Chapters 1 - 10 can be read at: Deep Sky Stories & Illustrations Chapter 10 (Part 2) - A Dream of Nethlins... On each and every low mossy mound or hillock which dotted the land all around him Alex saw Martians. He could tell who they were by their tanned complexion which was slightly puffed out as an adaptation which enabled them to breathe better through pores of their skin. Their faces were ruddy from living in a colder, windswept environment and many of them were dressed in fur-trimmed buckskins which offered better warmth.

Dawn broke over Delta Hospital much too soon for the boy in the white-sheeted bed. Everything smelled too clean and the blanket on the bed felt too thin and cool on him for it to belong to his bed. The blankets he was used to were woolly and heavy on top and all around him like a small, warm cave. No, this bed didn't feel like his at all, it was too stiff and crinkly.

Alex the Inventor - Chapter 9 (Pt. 2)
Chapters 1 - 8 can be read at: Deep Sky Stories & Illustrations Chapter 9 (Part 2) - ...and a Weird Doctor His grin was just as gritty and wide and his eyes were even wider. They gazed starkly through the heavy shadows and never once blinked, as though searching to find one small specific person. In the vague, shifting shadows, it was remarkable how even the weak front porch light of the Faraway's home was able to illuminate the ivory white face of the stiffly shuffling doctor Kirstt. Any other soul who happened to be traveling on the same farming road at that late hour would likely sense an unsettling, musty coldness in the doctor's wake and would want to keep well away.

Alex The Inventor - Chapter 9 (Pt.1)
Chapter 9 (Part 1) - Strange Change...Lunchtime for Alex had been absolutely delicious, he smacked his lips and let out a satisfied, "Ah", after guzzling down the last drops of his mom's homemade orange juice. Oh it was heavenly to be home with his mom all day long again. This was the best long weekend he'd ever had. Alex felt great if perhaps slightly lightheaded from all the work he had done that morning. He finally sat back on his chair in the kitchen, full and content. "That was the best", he sighed. Hot, gooey grilled-cheese sandwiches - oh, heaven! Alex took another deep sniff of the delicious, pungent buttery smell which still lingered from the nearby oven. A crisp, fresh breeze blew in through the open kitchen window and slowly dispersed the heavy cheese aroma as Alex finally sat back up with a smile and a full stomach. Getting up from the table, he ambled the few steps to the back door and put on his boots as he prepared to go back out to his workshop. Opening the door, Alex found his mom sitting on one of the porch steps, sipping a cup of coffee and gazing out on the heavy concealment of their backyard thicket. Alex sat down beside her and belched happily. Then much to her surprise he quietly said, "Zur-Haw", or some such odd word.
