Behaving Like a Normal Homo Sapien
We're all getting older, which is not news. But we're doing it with more resistance, resentment and reluctance then at any other time in human history. And we're worrying about it sooner. My children are constantly asking after my health. They think I eat terribly. On most counts they are right. Bottom line is my kids are more health conscious, at 20 then I was at 40. Ironically science says that the additional worrying they are doing is not in their best interest health wise. Acting your age has become a most ambiguous conundrum.

WTF Is a Rubberist
Underneath they wear latex, like in comic books, the way superheroes had their tight latex outfits on underneath their civilian clothing. And like many of these characters children worshipped from comic to big screen, the costume beneath had a mask of the same stretchy yet firm texture. Sometimes they were scary masks. Some had no holes for eyes, because beneath that rubber exterior were eyes blinded from youth. Rubberists first revealed their shapely bulges and breast forms on the pages of post World War II comic books. Both men and women were given equal attention and detail to anatomical perfection. WTF is a Rubberist, you ask? Simply put, a Rubberist is someone who is a rubber or latex enthusiast. In my book if you wear a rubber suit with a mask and sometimes even a cape of similar material, then that qualifies you as an enthusiast, even before you stepped out in public wearing it. But these folks were superheroes, and what do fans of superheroes do? They imitate their favorite characters. Rubberism was born out of heroism.

Ishmael Reed's Civil War Slavery Novel 'Flight To Canada'
In an era where racial tensions have risen and the country seems more divided than it has been since the 1960's on issues of racial divide, immigration and the lost white middle class, Flight to Canada seems as relevant today as it did when first published. We are living in a world of a counter culture renaissance. Most importantly the biggest counter cultural issue of the early 21st century is the legalization of marijuana.

Black Hash from Pakistan
Pakistan has its share of geopolitical issues. Foreigners are here either on business or passing through, to India or Afghanistan. Not really a vacation spot. It is a controversial country, mostly arid desert land, and offers little in the way of splendor, though I am sure the Pakistani Tourism Bureau would beg to differ. In point of fact though, the tourist bureau only lists mountains and landscapes as destinations. Not a sushi bar in sight. No shows to take in. Ditto on the museum scene. Women here are usually shrouded from head to toe, not in embroidered silks, but in black cotton. Men wear pastel cotton shirts and baggy pants that somehow bring to mind the Western business suit. In the congested urban centers black hash from Pakistan is controlled by blackmarket pricing and gangs. The black market is not an actual market you can visit.

Lego Sex
Everything is awesome when it comes to LEGO, even sex. LEGO's immense popularity is demonstrated by its wide usage and representation in diverse formats and cultural works. From movies to TV to sexuality, LEGO has become more than a toy. It is a symbol of change for a generation looking to define itself sexually. LEGO pieces of millions of varieties constitute a defining universal system of acceptance. More than just a metaphor for sex, LEGO is taking its place in pop culture history and the ongoing sexual revolution. Despite the numerous variations in design and purposes of individual pieces, just like human sexuality, each piece remains compatible in some way with the existing pieces.

Phoebe Cates' Pool Scene
After ending a brief but successful modeling career by seventeen, it took Phoebe Cates less than 24 months to become famous for what Rolling Stone has consistently voted Phoebe Cates' pool scene, as the hottest bikini scene in film history. It would be a defining moment for cinema and the end of innocence for a young Cates. The sexualization of Phoebe Cates began before she was even legal. By the time she was nineteen, it was 1982 and she had done several nude scenes in films like Paradise. Fully nude was fully nude. It seemed coming off the 1970s decade of sex, drugs, and rock & roll, nudity even for a teenager, was more socially acceptable than in the 21st century. Paradise was another version of the cult classic Blue Lagoon where Phoebe’s peer Brooke Shields, also quite young, played a sexually active teenager.

Sex and Voodoo
Cast a spell in New York, have sex with a voodoo doll, make someone have an orgasm in Los Angeles. Perhaps with future studies of Haitian Vodou spirituality, this kind of fantasy can someday be available online. Voodoo sex spells and magic have become the thing of legends, yet they are still practiced by Voodoo priestesses and shysters alike. A once powerful and mystic folkway, the Americanized incarnation of voodoo has bled its way into pop culture.
