Stop What You’re Doing and Look Up
Psst. Psst. Hey you. Yeah, you. Look up for a moment. What do you see? Possibly a wall of some kind, maybe a window, maybe the entire expanse of a sunburned sky tucking the Earth into bed for the night. But look past that. Do you see it? Do you see it? Do you feel it?
The Tile Universe
There are 214 tiles lining the shower wall. Most are uniform in shape, ubiquitous in intent and, having stood here in the temperate flow for 12 minutes, I’ve discovered that they’re individual universes. One tile stands out to me in particular. A silhouette can be made out in the blackened edges of the stonework. Looks like a cat peering out of a square window and the more I stare, the more I realise - it is. I’m bathing beside a multiverse, watched by feline eyes and oh! That reminds me. I squat slightly, bringing a razor to my own fur.
The Promise I Made That Genuinely Saved My Life
"I promise I'm not going to do that." I was 17, sat in my therapist's second living room, a fish tank to my left, a chalk drawing of a flip-flop in my lap that my therapist had just this second commissioned from me, and the whole of my future there in her hands.
