A Beginner's Guide to Acting Demo Reels
When I first started out in the acting world, I had some high school plays under my belt, no professional training and no connections in the industry. Yet, I decided to go ahead and quit my retail job to pursue acting full time. Luckily I haven't given up, and almost five years later I am slowly but surely booking small jobs, growing as an actor, and have a full time job to support me that is flexible with my auditions and bookings schedules. I'm not writing this article to discourage anyone, but the realities of the acting world will creep up behind you sooner or later. I don't think I've come across who anyone thinks it's easy to become an actor, but I do believe it is possible if you are consistent.
The Parent Trap starring Lindsay Lohan Saved Me + My Favorite Zen Songs
When I was in elementary school, I suffered from anxiety attacks, or something like them, mainly triggered by my parents’ fighting, or neighbors yelling – that sort of thing. To this day, loud noises or yelling will have some sort of impact on me. Though things have gotten better over time, I still remember those days vividly. I was never formally diagnosed with anxiety, but I know that I experienced some sort of anxiety/panic attack situation that caused my body to shake uncontrollably.
The Ultimate Anti Valentine's Day but Not Necessarily Anti Love Playlist
Listen along here: Some of us may reduce Valentine’s Day to a holiday created by Hallmark to sell flowers and cards and some of us may see it as a painful reminder of the heartbreak where our heart felt like it was literally being ripped into shreds, driven over by a truck and then burned to a crisp. Some of us may be focused on things other than a relationship and not even realize Valentine’s Day is coming up, while some of us don't dread the holiday and know that love will find it’s way eventually, so we just use this holiday as a day to eat chocolates and watch Schitt’s Creek for the 10th time. No matter what your stance is on Valentine’s Day or love in general, I think you will find at least one section of this playlist that you can relate to.
I Started A YouTube Channel in 2021 & It Changed My Life
Watch the video that inspired this article here: Before I was laid off from my full time job right before Christmas, I was working 60 hours a week – 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday, 7pm - 10pm Monday to Thursday and from 9:30am - 6pm on Saturdays. I went from making the most money I had ever made in my life, to getting paid for just 20 hours a week. Was I worried? Sure. Was I relieved? Absolutely.

Read This if You're in A Slump
My name is Elizabeth, and I make videos on YouTube about my journey in my acting career in Los Angeles, as well as about planning and goals and really sticking to what I set out to do this year because I'm not usually the best at committing to things, but so far I have been doing really well! I've been posting twice a week on YouTube consistently and making the best content that I can, but on this particular day, I really considered not posting anything at all. However, I knew that I really did want to stick to what I set out to do so I just really had to be honest with myself and ask myself: Am I just being lazy? Why am I being unmotivated? I did a few things to get to get me to this point of actually filming and posting, so I hope these tips are helpful to you as well if you’re putting something off!
Goals for Acting Success
In this video I talk about and put into the universe all of my rules and goals for my acting career in 2021. My goals include training more by being in an acting class at all times or reading an acting book in between classes. I also hope to book a role on a network TV show or film, and maybe even join SAG-AFTRA - I briefly go over how to join SAG-AFTRA (the acting union). I also hope to become monetized in YouTube in 2021 and hope to have monthly videos where I go over my progress each month.
