The Torture of Being a Writer
I’ve found that some people believe being a writer is easy. I can’t help but laugh. If they were writers they would know the strain we put on ourselves when it comes to our craft. Sure, writing is easy but it is a hard skill to master. Whether you’re a blogger or writing a novel you’d know just how complicated the process of writing is.
Friends With an Ex?
Your love for someone can transform but it takes time Breakups cause disruptions in plans, in life and in all the dreams you had with that person, so when a relationship ends it usually feels like your world is coming to an end. The thought of cutting your ex out of your life feels wrong because they were such a huge part of it. And if you both understand that you didn’t work as a couple, yet you had a great friendship you wonder if it would be so bad to stay in touch and be friends?
My childhood home was a strange place. It was a magnet for bizarre experiences, but it’s hard to tell if they were real because as a child my imagination was wild. Whether I made these things up or not they stick with me and I think about them often. So, let's get into it.
Is it Over?
It can be one of the hardest things to accept that a relationship is failing. When we see the signs that something is amiss in our love life we do tend to become desperate and try to fix whatever is broken. Sometimes we do the complete opposite and ignore the problems. There are times when no matter how hard you try, nothing can bring back a relationship that is past its expiry date. It’s about knowing when it’s time to just call it quits and end things. Red flags can be easy to miss and sometimes they are so obvious but we don’t pay attention or maybe it’s because we don’t want to believe it’s true. The signs could be:
Getting Back With Your Ex
Most of us have gone back to a past lover in hopes that this time it will work out. We might go back because it’s familiar and comfortable and sometimes it does work out but for the majority, there is usually a good reason why they’re your ex. I’m sure there are a few of you who haven’t gotten back with an ex but have played around with the idea. Maybe you still love them, you might even think that the breakup with a mistake. Perhaps they broke it off with you and regret their decision. So it leads back to the question of whether it’s a good idea to get back with your ex.
Emotions Some people desperately seek out happiness in the wrong places, only to come by more sadness and disappointment in their search. But when they finally realise where true happiness lies - from within- they feel at peace. And that is when they figure out that negative and positive emotions go hand in hand. Though no one want's to feel sadness, sometimes it's actually a healthy emotion to feel. Sure, most of us at one time or another have wallowed in self-pity a little too long and a lot of us have found a weird comfort in being unhappy. Perhaps holding onto sadness can make you feel like you're still connected to that person or situation that you don't want to let go of. Maybe it's because you won't feel disappointed if you're always unhappy. Sometimes being in a negative state of mind can actually be addictive. And even though we don't fully understand what emotions actually are we know that they are definitely important for human function. Just try not to get stuck on one emotion for too long.
How to Release Your Inner Child
As children, quite a few of us suffered in childhood. When we grow up we usually suppress our inner child along with the pain. So we spend years carrying around past trauma, letting it take root inside of us and even though the trauma is buried deep in our psyche there are times when the pain bubbles to the surface and we act out because of it. And those who go on to become parents cause their own children to suffer unintentionally. They repeat similar things that hurt them as children. That’s why healing your inner child and dealing with past traumas can make you the best parent you can be. But whether you’re a parent or not, it’s important to acknowledge the child within and all the pain you’re carrying around. Face it and heal it.
When I Say Self-Esteem
Recently I have come across a few Facebook posts where people are saying they have such high self-esteem and they're sick of others telling them to love themselves because they already do. They try to prove it by posting selfies and letting everyone know that they know they're really attractive. Yet when you look at their previous posts they talk about how insecure they are with their bodies or some other features, how needy they are, some even go so far as to put themselves and/or others down. One person even asked a group on Facebook if others could comment and like their new profile picture to show their ex that they are indeed 'hot' and 'popular'. Now I'm not here to judge, I'm just observing. I think it's great to have high self-esteem, but is it self-esteem or ego?
My Writing Journey
I have written bits and pieces about my journey to writing but not in this much depth. I love talking about this sort of thing because it blows my mind that I actually have my own author story to share. I never thought I would! And I always find it inspiring to read about other people’s adventure into the writing world, so I’m excited that I can contribute.
