Doors to Life
Welcome! Everyone has gone through multiple doors in their lifetime, so let's continue to discover more hidden door's about life. What will the next door lead you to? Let me tell you what I discover in life one door at a time!
Memory Strategies and Enhancement
Memory strategies are “mental events intended to improve encrypting and recovery” (Gazzaniga, Ivry, & Mangun, 2018). Memory strategies help people remind and recall about the things that happened in the past. Also considering any information that deals with the prior experiences from everyday external aids to internal memory strategies that facilitate storage and retrieval from long-term memory. We create memories every day and not all of them are stored, thus, learning different memory strategies can help those who may be struggling with keeping their memory or trying to retain information. Cognitive mapping is the cognitive process “a process by which the individual subject situates himself within a vaster, unrepresentable totality, a process that corresponds to the workings of ideology” (Jameson, F. n.d.). In addition, cognitive mapping is helpful because it allows us to solve complex difficulties of origination and policymaking.
The Game of Social chance
Social stratification has multiple factors in order for it to work properly. It starts with the social differentiation, “human diversity of the society”, to social inequality, to social order, and then the stratification which is created through the social forces such as “socio-historical and political actions” (Larkin, 2015). In this writing, I will be discussing three types of stratifications systems, how individuals are sorted into the system and the system’s social mobility.
It has become an endless cycle of ups and downs everyday. Today I have decided to write about my schedule of having depression in my life. Some may be able to relate, other's may not; either way every person is unique and individualized towards their mental health. I started therapy when I was in middle school and continue to go to therapy today as a college student. The time between middle school and college, I had went to already three treatment centers, one emergency room visit, and over 5 different therapists. Was it a struggle? Yes. Was it worth going through each treatment? Yes. Do I still have negative thoughts and feelings? Yes. Do I want to give up? No.
Cherished Small Moments
Cherished Small Moments Being with you was like finally being in the moment Like all my worries and bad thoughts were being casted away in an instant
My Goldendoodle, Latte
I have a female Goldendoodle, and her name is Latte. It’s incredible the connection you can make with a pet, especially a dog from my experience. I am currently a nursing student and will be graduating soon. My brother who is one year younger than me is in an architecture program. Before me and my brother were able to go to college, it was adopting a Goldendoodle puppy who has severe anxiety, had GI problems, and went to get surgery a year after her adoption that made us get through our challenges. I always wanted a dog when I was a little girl, but my parents would never agree to the idea of having one. Me and my brother were both in high school when I decided to adopt our dog. I felt like I had to so she can save us.
Natural Healing from Mother Nature
“When you release stress, you come home to yourself” (Donna Eden). There has been a rise in the usage of essential oils worldwide. These oils have been benefiting many people in positive ways that make their lives better. The oils can be made in many ways and each type serves a unique purpose. Essential oils are considered natural medicine as it relieves people from their mental health problems, aids in the healing of the human body, and is a type of relaxation tool to satisfy the body when it’s in distress.
The Existence of Humanity and Personalities
In the article, “The Necessary and Sufficient Conditions of Therapeutic Personality Change” by Rogers, talks about the conditions that are key factors when a therapist talks to client in order to have a healthy personality change. The article begins by including the six factors between the relationships of the therapist and the client. First of the six conditions is that, “two of the people are in psychological contact” (Rogers, 1992) which means that the therapist and the clients are involved and speaking in a mental and emotional state by meeting, communicating and are in a professional relationship.
The Hidden Life of Students
Students are constantly getting into trouble at school even though they may be having a very hard time in life. This could include, working hard until late at night, having a mental illness or struggling with relationship. Many students from kindergarten through high school are suspended at least once every year. Some of these students who are suspended, are mentally drained due to external or internal events, that they have a hard time staying focused in class.
