Donzii's Signature BBQ Ribs
I remember in my second year of university, my best friend reported me to the director of the school, and not for the reason you think. Our sub-division, the school of tourism, only had one hundred students and because of this, the administration had close-knit relationships with us. My best friend was concerned about my poor eating habits because I would often have my first meal at 6 p.m. This was always unintentional, but she felt that an authority figure needed to intervene and help me with my eating dilemma. It seemed like an odd choice, as though the admin team genuinely cared for the students, I'm not exactly sure what the director could have done to make me break this personal habit.

'Get Out': There Is No Rose Without Thorns
Jordan Peele’s gripping directorial debut is not as gory as the other horror films I’ve seen. However, that did not stop it from making my heart leap continuously in my chest. The intro of this satirical horror-thriller had me chuckling at the humour that was injected into the film, misleading me about the terror that was in store. In Peele’s defence, he did try to subtly warn me with the lyrics of Childish Gambino’s song, Redbone, but I was too busy singing to make the connection.

Whitney the Natural Hair Guru
As I walked down the aisle, displaying my broadest smile and tossing flowers on the ground, I felt proud of the bone straight hair cascading down my back. My parents had straightened my hair for my father’s wedding, and at the time, though I was only eight years old, it felt like a milestone for me. As far as I was concerned, having my hair straightened was an improvement in my appearance, and I praised my parents for the decision they made. I spent the subsequent years of my life having the same mentality, and like many others thought that straight hair was more desirable. I was convinced that I would never allow my hair to revert to its natural state as long as I lived.
