Birding bloopers
"I think there's a jay in the garden," I said. "Are you sure?" asked my husband, and he came to see for himself. He could not be certain either, and that was the problem. The bird was a beautiful buff-pink with white flashes on the wings and a few blue feathers. It was merrily eating all of the peanuts, so quite clearly it was a jay… or was it?

My divorce was looming and I didn’t want to sit around waiting for it to happen, I wanted to do something to take my mind off things. Every month I do a think/write/submit writing exercise. I usually ‘think’ around 6 months ahead, but I’m catching up a bit. So while I’d normally be ‘thinking’ August, ‘writing’ July and ‘submitting’ June, I’m still only on May.

Self-publishing giant doesn’t like me publishing my own work online
One book-selling/self-publishing conglomerate didn’t like the fact that some of my stories already appeared online, despite being (a) behind a metered paywall, and (b) my own copyrighted work.
