The Ultimate Mom Lesson
My mother’s hands are clutched tightly closed. They’re contracted from disease. Those same hands used to feed me and hold my hand as a child. Now I feed her as an elderly adult. My mother no longer walks but is completely bedridden. She taught me how to crawl and watched me walk. As she battles dementia, I assist her in every daily need. Sadly, the same angelic voice that sang to me now simply rambles or doesn’t speak at all. My mother helped me speak and taught me to sing when I was a little girl. Reversing roles isn’t anything I anticipated. It’s the last lesson my mother will teach me.

The Legacy List
I like to read bucket lists. People give so much thought to what they’d like to accomplish. Next year, I’ll be turning the corner on a meaningful milestone birthday. I decided to reinvent the bucket list because I want to do something meaningful with my life. So, I developed a bucket list for humanity. I call it the legacy list.

I’m Never in Fashion
Don’t ask me what I’m wearing. It’s not designer friendly and I didn’t run out to get my look because someone else is sporting it. My favorite fashion trend is my own personal style. I prefer going against the weave of the fashion fabric. I don’t rely on trends. I simply ignore fashion magazines. I’m a fashion rebel and I hide in a renegade fashion closet. I’m not the only one. We’re the gals and guys thrift shopping for kicks and on the hunt for something that fits well rather than fits in.

Quote Yourself
Over the years, I have used notebooks and journals to record my individual perspective. I’m the kind of person that searches for inspiration and motivation. I’m always on the lookout to inspire others. I want to pass this beautiful concept to you. I hope you begin to discover your incredible voice and quote yourself.

Castaway Destiny
I laughed at my foolishness. Could it be mine? I regretted my cynicism. Perhaps, this year, I dared. My mind raced back to the day the ship set sail. I was among a crowd of faces I didn’t care to know. No names, we all held the same page. Pens and pencils, scribbled and calligraphy, jumbled thoughts and perfect verses; these pages held the dream of each soul that dared to tempt the fates and set sail with the ship.

Control your Compass
You’re the compass. Your compass is internal and worn in. Your compass is comprised of your essence, energy, heart, soul and mind. Your direction is your vision for your life. It’s comprised of your character, moral values and life quest. Stop letting other people direct your vision compass. Don’t let anyone get control of your compass and misguide your true path to success.

Defiant Determination
Defiant determination is your ability to put everything else aside and focus on your goal. There’s no bartering and negotiating when it comes down to hard work. No goal can truly be achieved at a high level of success unless you’re willing to put yourself in an extraordinary level of success mode.

Behind the Sun
I walked the desert like a fool. Alone and thirsty, I was searching for a reason to continue my journey. I crawled relentless in a dirty garment no educated mind would dare wear. It didn’t matter. I wore it well. They could never possibly see that nothing mattered, not behind the sun.

Tune into Success
The direct route to your personal success is dependent upon you turning the station. Tune into the success station by tuning into your own goals and dreams. To do this you must tune out the clutter that threatens your goals and success on a daily basis. The clutter is comprised of anything that doesn’t fit into your dream. It’s easy to get engrossed in the news, trends and perfection formulas suggested for your life. The time you spend on the clutter station gets you farther away from your life and closer to a life you don’t want- someone else’s.
