Rock Steady Baby
"Rock steady, baby That's what I feel now Let's call this song exactly what it is" -Aretha Franklin. Growing up in a black household meant cleaning up the house on Saturday's while my mom bumped all the soulful hits while shaking her hips from side to side. Looking over her shoulder with a smile while yelling, "You don't know nothing 'bout this." I would then roll my eyes and smile because this was all I knew. This soulful R&B is what I grew up on, but there was something about Aretha.
Living With Intention
The average American household has 300,000 things, according to Becoming Minimalist. I was drinking my daily morning coffee and listening to Matt D'Avella's podcast called "Ground Up." I nearly chocked on my coffee when he stated this statistic. I was in complete shock and looked around my apartment in disgust. Not because I was living in filth, but because I definitely was one of those people who fell under that statistic.
The Fetishization of Black Women on Tik Tok
There has been an increase of Tik Tok videos where a lot of non-black men are declaring their love of black women in a mostly cringey manner. This trend sparked after numerous black men would make videos bashing black women in favor of other races and using the excuse of it just being their "preference."
