I turned to the book and read the final pages of the ninth chapter and answered the questions in silence. I could feel him watching me. He made me feel like a rabbit staring down the fangs of a lynx. I felt the sticky warmth of fresh blood trickle down my cheek from the abrasion left there by the branch’s thorny bark. Eyes the color of the sky on a misty autumn morn gazed out at the sea from her balcony. Shadows from sleepless nights tarnished her usually perfect complexion. The cool, salty breeze sent chills across her bare shoulders.

I didn't want to leave Cat. She had allowed me to touch her in a way she hadn't let anyone before. I didn't understand why but she stirred something deep within me that I had never felt before. I wanted her in a way I wanted no other. To be honest, I had never truly wanted a woman. Women were simply a means for release, a release I needed as much as a fish needed water.
