Bio
I adore words and I love what happens when we grab them, sleep with them, holler and scream and laugh at them! I love what happens when we throw them in the air and watch them fall magically from our minds onto paper!

Scorned Pt. 10
Potomac General Hospital – Penelope wasn’t sure if she’d heard him correctly and she was too afraid to ask him to repeat himself. Being his wife, hearing the words and the question, had always been a dream of hers. The fact that they were actually a couple seemed too much to believe at times. But here he was lying on his back and barely awake, processing the news of their impending parenthood.

Chapter 12 Potomac General – Morning – Two days had passed with much of the same; Penelope had spent every moment at Derek’s bedside as he faded in and out of a pain-med induced haze. During the time he was awake he could see how tired she looked and now he was worried that she’d waste away because of him. He couldn’t do much but what he could do was make sure she took care of herself.

Derek
Abigail hated mornings. She absolutely hated mornings! Give her the darkest of the dark midnights, anything was better than mornings. Morning was when the soot and wet mud of her pain made it hard to breathe. Those things that she wrestled with during her sleep, created by the hurt and rejection and failures of her daytime settled. Settled like cement in her lungs making it hard to breathe. Now here she was, wide awake not yet ready to climb out of bed to begin a day that promised to be just like the day before. Abigail grabbed the near-empty water bottle that sat on the nightstand and drained it. This was her morning routine, she needed to cough, a big loud coughing fit to clear her lungs so that she could refill them with fresh air, enough to give her the strength to get up and get moving.

Scorned Pt. 8
Potomac General Hospital – Morning Dr. Franklin pushed the door open and entered the room. He was glad that his patient was not alone; he wasn’t sure what his state of mind would be this morning. The day before didn’t go well and he had insisted on being alone. So, to see his mother sitting next to him was a positive sign.

Chapter 10 Home of Dave and Fran Rossi – Morning – Fran was happy to hear from Penelope the night before. Derek had allowed her to stay with him through the night and now Fran was packing a picnic basket filled with food for the two of them. Chapter 9 Potomac General Hospital – Evening – One thousand seven hundred twenty-three. That was the number of dots on the tile above his head before he’d lost count and had to begin again. He’d gotten used to the beeps and swishes from the monitors, and boredom had long set in. His friends and family had been there since he’d been brought in and now after hearing the doctors’ preliminary report, he’d shooed them all out refusing to see anyone. He felt like a child, a jerk but he didn’t care, he didn’t care...but he did.

Chapter 8 Potomac General – Afternoon – Dave was relieved that Fran had managed to fall asleep in the recliner that the nursing staff had graciously brought into the room. He promised her that he would stand watch over Derek while she rested. Hotch had agreed that he stay, and the director had begrudgingly allowed the team to take only local cases for the time being. Sarah and Desire had not returned, nor had they called. Penelope was a wreck when she left; wanting to stay but not sure she should. She was terrified that Derek would not want her here when he woke up.

Chapter 7 Potomac General Hospital – Morning – Fran, Sarah and Desiree sat quietly around Derek’s bed. A lot had happened since he’d been admitted two nights ago. They had come close to losing him in surgery and again by the man who’d shot him. Sam had thought he could out smart them all and take another chance at killing their son and brother. With each hour, the doctors became slightly more optimistic but there was still a long road ahead with no signs of Derek waking up.

Chapter 6 Potomac General Hospital – Fran and Penelope opened the door to Derek’s room and stepped inside. The sounds of monitors and the ventilator filled the otherwise silent room. Each stood on opposite sides of the bed as they fought their emotions at the sight of Derek’s still body. It was a miracle that he had survived. Penelope wanted to run but her feet would not move. It didn’t matter what Fran said she would blame herself for a long time.

Scorned Pt. 2
Scorned Chapter 5 Sam rushed down the hall and out of the hospital; he wanted to run out of sheer terror of being found out. He’d parked on the far south side of the hospital and was kicking himself for it now. When he finally made it to his car, he slammed the door shut and sat behind the wheel trying to regain his composure. It was several more minutes before he realized that his fists were pounding against the steering wheel and he was screaming at the top of his lungs. He wondered what others would think if they happened upon him at that moment.

Scorned Pt.1
Chapter 1 Derek couldn’t get out of the office fast enough. He wasn’t expecting to see what he had just seen. Just the night before he’d finally worked up the courage to tell Penelope how he felt; he was happily surprised that she felt the same way about him. But now, less than twelve hours later, she was in Sam’s arms. Maybe she had changed her mind and come to her senses and realized that she could do better. Whatever the case, Derek’s heart was broken, shattered into a million pieces and all he wanted to do was go home.
