The King and The P.I.
I was in my office getting ready for my next case, doing some research. Theoretically, it shouldn’t be hard to find Gerard. The Mansolins were the only raccoons on Kaglesh and they weren’t even fully raccoons from what I’ve been reading. Realistically, Kaglesh is a big place and there are a lot of places a small raccoon can hide in.

Haunted
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. My eyes were just a tad too big. My nose is a little too perfect, too button like. My auburn hair shined even though I know it’s been a few days since I last washed it. Worst of all was the smile. It stretched across my face, but I wasn’t happy. There was nothing to smile about.

The King and The P.I.
It had taken me many days to arrive in Greldrod. It wasn’t as hospitable as Rosen was, but Stez was true to her word. She sent word to the other goblin towns and the goblins in Greldrod had replenished my rations, then sent me on my way. It had been many days since I was in Greldrod. I had decided to go through Mansoll Wood as a shortcut into Xiaplish, but was sorely unprepared for how lost I’d become.

Life in Ilyoluna
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. Flurries of ash fell diligently on the already ash covered ground just as it has for the past 10 years. Mount Narroux had been steadily erupting for the last 15 years, but 10 years ago it had turned for the worst. The underground magma caverns that lay, and encompasses, the whole of Kaglesh had been building in pressure and vast amounts of magma releasing it all through all of the previously dormant mountains all over Kaglesh. There was so much built up tension that it sent the nation into a volcanic winter when the volcanoes all blew.

The King and The P.I.
I spent many days with Lazenos. We buried Lucienne under the bare weeping willow. It was her favorite tree. She spent many nights writing poetry and many days deep in meditation as Ilir gave her prophetic visions under the tree. It just felt right to bury her there.

The King and The P.I.
It had been a couple of days since Gadreel had dropped me off in Rosen. It was a goblin town. I’ve never been here before. Usually, I stuck to the outcrops near the elven farmlands since they had the best food source. Though I have never been here, I could see just how much had changed in the long winter.

The King and The P.I
Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Quick shake. Turn. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap. Same thing every day for the past two decades. Pacing my office waiting for this godsforsaken volcanic winter to end. Two decades of not being able to work is driving me up the wall. I waddled to the window and peered out. An endless sea of ash. Little flurries of ash continue to fall. I honked in frustration. I waddled away and sat at my desk.

The King and The P.I
Wake up. Scavenge. Eat the little I find. Sleep. Repeat. The same thing day in, day out for the last… I don’t even know how long it’s been since the end of the spewing. I don’t even know how long it had been spewing. It’s been so long since I’ve seen another living soul, not counting the ghost that led me to the vegetable garden four farms ago. It’s been even longer since I’ve seen my family. I hope they’re okay.

The King and The P.I
Kaglesh was split in two in looks and society. From above it looked like two different planets. Mount Narroux, a hulking, looming volcano, stood smack in the middle of Kaglesh. Kaglesh doesn’t rotate it became tidally locked during The Great Orc War. The right side, Vlauplera, was full of life. Lush, thick, green forests dotted every couple of hundred kilometers, rolling plains spanned kilometers of land allowing creatures to settle, clear, blue lakes ran through breaking the land, creating watering holes, a deep blue ocean surrounded the west and south of Vlauplera, snowcapped mountains to the north, black sand beaches to the south. Creatures of all kinds and colors roamed free making their home anywhere they please creating a kaleidoscope of colors. The left, Xiaplish, was dark and gloomy. Swamps, green and mossy dotted the land connected by green lakes, forests were bare, the snowcaps to the north providing the only bright color as the black sand beaches and the dark ocean to the south and east created a void. While a multitude of different creatures lived in the shadows of Kaglesh they lost all of their pigment making all creatures on Xiaplish a dull grey making them appear older than they are.

A Look into the Past and Future
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. Flurries of ash fell diligently covering the already ash covered ground just as it has for the past 10 years. Mount Narroux had been steadily erupting for the last 15 years, but 10 years ago it had turned for the worst when the pressure that had been building in the underground caverns, that connected all the other volcanoes in Kaglesh, had finally spewed into the air. There was just too much built up tension that it sent the nation into a volcanic winter.
