Everyone Has a Story
We all have a story. Where we grew up, what sports we played, our family and friends we associate ourselves with, what we do for fun, etc. But the kicker is not all of us go out and tell people that story. Now, I know it can be hard for some people to share personal things about themselves with complete strangers but what if your story has the potential to have a real impact on someone's life? What if your story could change the projection of someone's life path? I want you to contemplate that as you continue to read on.

Up Before You
What started as a simple podcast that I was recording out of my college apartment on a Macbook Air laptop computer has grown to so much more. The idea to start in the first place was inspired by the guys and gals at Lift Heavy Run Long. A podcast by a group of people from Olive Branch CrossFit. They had my girlfriend at the time on their show and me and another friend decided to go with her to the studio to support and watch the show live. It was an incredible experience. Not only was she great on the show but the environment was electric. They had all the gadgets and gizmos. All of the toys and whistles. And the best part about it was they all seemed to be having the time of their life. The podcast wasn't even really about anything either. Sure, they asked her some questions and talked a little bit about her history in Crossfit and competing and such but it was mostly just them shooting the shit with each other. I was amazed and stunned as I watched and was on cloud 9 on the way home. I had to start doing this I remember telling her.

What You "Do" Is Not Who You Are
How many times have you walked into a party or event and been introduced to new people who almost immediately ask you what you do? As if your answer to that question is going to direct and define that whole conversation. I've always hated that question for so many reasons. Everyone is always quick to say their job and what they do for a living but are we not much more than that? Why would you put all of your self-worth into what you do for a living? To be frank, I think it's bullshit. If I'm an accountant do I just tell people I'm an accountant and that's that? Why would I limit myself to that? In my mind, that didn't answer the question. Sure, accounting is what you do for a living but what about all of that stuff you do that you actually enjoy and that you consider in one way or another to be apart of you? The stuff that you don't consider to be work.

Today Is The Day
Today is the day...it might as well be. We only get so many chances and opportunities to chase our dreams and passions so why not make today that day? If you wait long enough you might just let the opportunity itself pass you by forever. You see, we're human so we don't like to ever look at things that way. We think that we are going to live forever and that things are never going to end, doors will never close, and those big opportunities will always be there. News flash, we don't live forever, things do end, doors close and big opportunities don't come around every day. If this is breaking news to you I'm sorry but you should probably crawl out from under the rock you live under and experience the world for a day. You'll learn a lot.

Who's Not Going To Quit?
Most things in life come down to who can last the longest. Who simply doesn't quit. Not just in my world of CrossFit but in all aspects of life. The lessons we learn in the box usually have a deeper meaning than barbells and pull-ups and muscles. Think about it for a second.

Give Back.
We're all told to give back and it's usually implied that it should be monetarily. Although that is still well and good and very necessary at times, my personal opinion is that we can give back with something far greater than the money that we might have. We can give our time.

Hard People Do Hard Stuff
This title is the more P.C. version of what my friend Brian Chontosh said, "Hard men do hard shit." Do you think you've ever really actually gone to failure? If we're being honest with ourselves most of us have not. Sure, we've all pushed hard on a workout and failed reps or ended up on the floor afterwards but most of us have not ever actually gone to the point of absolute failure. To the point of 100%, I could not do any more. Which leads us all to the question, "Where is my actual breaking point?" Most people go their entire lives without ever actually finding out where their breaking point is. That's crazy to me. In my 23 years on this Earth, I don't believe I've ever even come close to finding this point. Sure, I've done some hard stuff but nothing that ever got me close to my breaking point. It's something I'm searching for and something I'm probably going to spend the rest of my life searching for.

Fail...The Whole World is Watching
Michael Jordan is famous for saying, "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Lying is Bad...Right?
Haven't we all been told throughout our lives that lying is in fact bad? That we should always tell the truth no matter what? Even when it's hard? Well, I hope we've all been taught that again and again throughout our lives but if you simply open up your social media apps or turn on your favorite news station guess what? You're most likely seeing or hearing lies. I mean let's call a spade a spade. Half-truths or whatever you want to call them there's no denying we experience a lot of dishonesty from all different types of people every single day. Now, that doesn't make it right of course.
