When you feel inadequate
How often do you feel inadequate? For me, I feel inadequate very often. My constant feeling of inadequacy probably stems from being surrounded by overly-critical, negative people in the past. I take everything personally and tend to hold grudges. Sometimes, I just feel like the whole world hates me, criticizing every single thing I do, picking out the flaws and shoving it to my face. As a result, I don't have a lot of friends that I can trust, because who knows, maybe they are speaking badly behind my back. This unpleasant feeling worsens when scrolling through social media and you happen to notice other people's successes and achievements. It made me feel like I am not doing enough and in order to increase my sense of worth, I have to achieve more. The pressure from wanting to be better does help motivate me to make progress, but I never really felt content. The cycle of self-criticism then begins, judging myself for every mistake that I have done and every opportunity that I have missed. I feel insignificant and small in the world, because my work and efforts isn't recognised. I often question my existence on this planet. I know the world does not revolve around me, but hey, everyone has their own needs and goals in life too!
