The beauty of nature
Nature heals all wounds. It triumphs in adversity. There are no bounds, no laws, no doubts of its beauty. It stands steadfast with out worry of it’s perfection. I took my roommate to Moab to help her find inner peace. It sounds very hippy esque, but for whatever reason I was being called to do it. We did several hikes for the summer solstice and the new moon. One of the hikes I chose was double arch because of the sheer size of the arches. They were massive, towering over us and the people that hiked to it. To be underneath the archs was absolutely breathtaking. The arches stood proudly, nobly almost. They have no fear, no worry, no doubt of what they are, beautiful things created over time by the power of Mother Nature. One day, I hope to be like those arches, to just be me, without any doubt, shame, or fear. But that takes time and patience, something that had always eluded me. With the rush of the everyday, there is no time to just relax and work on the things that are broken in our souls, to fix the darkness that rages inside of us. There is no time for us to try to relieve our anxiety, our fears, our worries of the future. It’s a constant struggle that grows within us like a disease, damaging us, causing us to lose focus of the things that truly matter. It makes people spiral further and further into the pit of despair and anxiety. Something so benign, could turn into something more sinister because of this blanket of fear that wraps us up in its embrace. The blanket is a false protector, shielding us from going or growing any further than what we have become accustomed to. It takes our power and we oblige because it is what is expected of us. It is this fear that damages the world. Damages the connections that we so desperately need. It makes us cower in the fear of its power, an all encompassing thing. The only thing that can fight these monstrous beings is the power of nature. The reason I chose this picture of the arches was because it captured the grand scale of the them. The blue sky next to the red sand stone slick rock has always been such a unbelievablely beautiful experience for me, something that no picture can fully capture. It has to be experienced. It is an experience I will always cherish because it reminds me of who I am, it reminds me that I need patience with myself and others. It reminds me to live in the moment. Being surrounded by the beauty of nature heals something in our souls, it brings us back to center. It helps us realize that the problems we face or nothing more than slight inconveniences. It helps us shed the blanket of fear, and embrace something new, something different. It helps build the power within us all. The power of nature helps us face the giants that cower over us, it helps us fight back the darkness that grows daily. Oddly enough, being in nature, away from civilization, helps us connect with others. It reminds us that we have the power to change the world. To do unimaginable things, for the betterment or hinderence of society. It is within each and every one of us a force so unstoppable, it can alter history. One voice, one person can become something more than themselves. It is within nature that helps us find and tap into that power. These arches are a testament to the power of nature. A power that can heal or destroy. Nature has the power to heal our souls. Nature helps us heal with the power of its beauty.
