Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin Indicted in College Bribery Scandal
News that #FelicityHuffman and #LoriLoughlin have been indicted in what has been described as the, "largest-ever college admissions scam prosecuted by the Justice Department," by United States Attorney Andrew Lelling has definitely rocked Hollywood, if not North America. For the uninitiated, this admissions scam has seen wealthy parents across the United States pay to have their children admitted to any one of a number of A-list schools, including Georgetown University, Yale University, Stanford University, the University of Texas, the University of Southern California and UCLA, according to Washington Post.

R. Kelly and His Legal Peril: So Not Funny
While I acknowledge that "I Believe I Can Fly" is a song that can be empowering for many people, I've never been a big R. Kelly fan. His music has never really been that appealing to me, and once he started facing some serious legal trouble—dating back to 1996—I simply get a bad vibe from him.

'Wish You Were Gay:' Billie Eilish, What Were You Thinking?
It seems the world has effectively fallen in love with Billie Eilish since her first song released on SoundCloud, "Ocean Eyes"—went viral in 2016. With the release of her current title, "Wish You Were Gay," people are a little less excited and a little unhappy.

'Leaving Neverland'—A Legacy That May Never Be Confirmed
Leaving Neverland, a two-part HBO documentary that chronicles the stories of two men who report they were sexually assaulted by legendary pop star Michael Jackson, is a story that may have needed to be told by some, but for others, may only pour salt in a lifelong wound.

March Is Self-Injury Awareness Month
Tomorrow is the first of March, and for many, that can mean a lot of great things, including the fact that spring is not far away. However, it also means we need to start a dialogue that plagues millions of individuals yearly: Self-injury. March is #SelfInjuryAwarenessMonth in Canada, the United States, and Western Europe, and self-injury is something that I—like so many others—continue to know very little about.

A Birthday Gift for a 10-Year-Old, a Thought-Provoking Tweet
On February 16, 2019, my youngest daughter turned 10. This was, as one might expect, a momentous occasion, as turning double digits often creates. However, it was her response to her much-anticipated birthday gift that created a lesson for us both.

#NationalEmergency: Are We Surprised Trump's Gone This Far?
When I saw on Twitter that #NationalEmergency was trending, I had a sneaking hunch I knew why. Really, it's sad that the ongoing saga of funding for a wall along the United States' southern border has even come to this, but what surprises me is that no one seems to have seen this coming from the moment now-President Trump started talking about it on the campaign trail. To be fair, back then there were quite a lot of us who honestly didn't think he'd even be elected to the highest seat of power in the United States, but that's another story.

Women Need Women
In my travels throughout the internet the other day, I came across a TED Talk featuring Hollywood legends Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. These are two women whom I've seen throughout most of my life; my mom was a fan of their film with Dolly Parton, 9 to 5, and I have many memories of seeing Tomlin's phone operator Ernestine or her little girl Edith Ann. Many of my contemporaries watch Grace & Frankie on Netflix, and the lifelong friends have struck me as women who are probably just as funny offscreen as they are onscreen.

A Stormi Day: Why Kylie—And The Kardashian-Jenners—Should Tone Things Down
Like many, I generally could care less about what the #Kardashian clan or the Jenners are up to. While I do applaud the fact that they seem to work hard and are apparently quite altruistic, the entire family generally grates on my nerves.

Avon Apologizes for Body Shaming Ad, Says 'We Hear You'
I'm a reasonably fit, nearly-46-year-old woman with two kids. I'm not really big into beauty products because in general, I don't like to fuss too much. I moisturize my legs, I wash my face and hair (and whatever else might be dirty), and I brush my teeth on the regular. That's about it.

Why Can't Other Social Media Users Be Like Millie Bobby Brown?
In one reply to Instagram trolls, #MillieBobbyBrown has shown more maturity than many other social media users. At issue was a tight dress that the 14-year-old chose to wear on January 11, 2019. To be sure, Brown looked stunning, and there was nothing inappropriate about the dress. As a high school teacher who predominantly teaches students that are right around Millie Bobby Brown's age, I can tell you I have seen many students over the years who have worn clothes that are as tight as the dress she wore and in some cases, more revealing.
