Unconventional Intimacy
The sun rises over the busy streets of Brooklyn and its light pierces through an apartment window. We are greeted by a bedroom whose walls are peppered with an eclectic collection of artwork, worn movie posters, & picture frames that showcase a warm sense of joy. In a light and cozy bed lie a young couple in their 20's: Alex McCarthy, an athletic, fair-skinned guy with unkempt red hair and Chloe Lin, a Taiwanese American girl with deep blue hair and a tawny complexion. Alex and Chloe have been dating for 3 months and counting. Alex had feelings for Chloe ever since they met 8 months ago. Alex, who is on the autism spectrum, was a bit nervous at first before eventually amassing the courage to tell her how he felt about her. Chloe had shown interest in Alex ever since they met but, Alex took a while to catch on. She always knew that there was something interesting about her boyfriend but, he has trained himself since the age of 8 to keep his guard up due to fear of judgement.

Andrew Yang: New York's much needed upgrade
New York City has always been a fascinating place: it is a melting pot that is beaming all sorts of culture and diversity. I lived my entire life on the east coast: I was born in Florida, lived in Long Island throughout kindergarten and first grade, moved to Philadelphia for the rest of my childhood, lived in Connecticut throughout high school, went to community college in South Jersey, and returned to Connecticut. Throughout my life, I have constantly visited this amazing city: I would ride the train from Milford to Grand Central and take the ferry to Hoboken, NJ to visit my father during my High School years, I would visit my aunt when she lived in Queens, I went to New York Comic Con in 2008 and got to (along with many others) shake hands with the late Stan Lee, and I have been to great eats such as "Jekyll & Hyde" and "Carmine's". New York City has also been a special place in the heart of my family: My mother was born in Manhattan, My late Grandfather was a preacher at a church in the Bronx, & My aunt and uncle teach in the city as well.

Dear Donald: It not you, it's me.
Donald John Trump: billion dollar mogul, celebrity game show host, and now: disgraced former president of the divided states of America. Ever since I saw you in 2015 go up on that debate stage and run your mouth like an extra from the film, Mean Girls, I was initially amused by your juvenile behavior. I thought that it would’ve been anyone.. Literally, anyone that would have beaten you in the primary. However, as time went on, my laughter turned into sorrow. It came down to you and Hillary in 2016 and to be quite honest, I didn’t want her either. She exhumed an air of entitlement that heavily fed into a system that thrived on political dynasties.

Andrew Yang: a silent hero in the making
My first exposure to American politics was when I was only 10 years old. It was the year 2004, four years after my parents split and three years after the monumental tragedy that was 9/11. In an effort to both get closer to and be taken seriously by my father, I echoed his support of former President George W. Bush. My father is very much a product of the era of the late Ronald Regan and to most people of the baby boomer generation, Reagan was seen as a political Messiah.
