This seemingly simple thing is a major life moment for around 10% of the worlds population (depending on which statistician you read) but either way, a large part of humanity has to deal with this in one form or another during its life time—it could be argued that they deal with it daily.
Following on from my trip down memory lane for 1980, now it's time to delve into 1981 and the gems this year produced.
Let me start by asking you a simple, straightforward question:
Following on from my recent piece about growing up in the 80s, I wanted to share my favourite music from each year in a series of posts. Going back like this, for me anyway, shows the progress of bands and artists in terms of sounds and success. It also shows how music adopts techniques and sounds and they become "mainstream" and a something else takes its place as the radical, new sound.
You can’t fail to have noticed the renewed interest in 80s style. There does seem to be a continued fascination with the style and music of that time.
