My ‘Unpopular’ Pokémon Opinions
With a franchise as on-going as Pokémon, there are some firm favourites and with so many fans there’s bound to be some different opinions. There’s still lots of debate over which Pokémon is the best and which generation is the best. I’ve seen many fallouts and arguments on the internet. I’ve been a fan of the series since the series came to the UK, and I have written quite a lot of stuff about Pokémon. I share my opinions with a lot of the fan base in general. A lot of us love Pikachu and Eevee and think Charizard is badass. So here’s a list of my unpopular opinions about the Pokémon franchise.

My Vocal Plus Experience
Vocal is the ideal blogging site for me. I’ve had experience with blogging sites like Livejournal, Tumblr, Twitter and Wordpress before it went really mainstream. To this day, I still believe that most of the Internet is powered by Wordpress which many use to sell their brand, and become their own identity. I’ve seen many sites promise writers that they can supplement their income with their writing. Out of all of them, I’ve found Vocal to be the most reliable. I’ve been writing here for 3 years and published all sorts of stuff; reviews, ramblings, recipes and short stories. Pretty much anything can find a home on here.

Pumpkin Pancakes
It is amazing what ideas you get when you binge watch the Great British Bake Off on Netflix. I always associate pumpkins with Halloween. When I started travelling, I began to see Pumpkins in a new light. I had childhood memories of carving pumpkins, but never actually tasted one before. “Maybe we’ll have some pumpkin pie” whistles on the radio. The lyrics from Walking Around the Christmas Tree felt weird to me when I was younger because I would always associate pumpkins with Halloween. Now I’m a fan. It’s not just Pumpkin Spice Lattes that should have all the glory. Pumpkin is a really good thing to have in any cuisine. The pumpkin salad I had at a hotel in Japan, was one of the best salads I ever had in my life. Pumpkin curry works a treat. Pumpkin pie is lush. Having been a big fan of the sweet potato pancakes from Korea, I decided to try and make some myself at home. It worked out really well, so I thought maybe try pumpkin ones too.

Covid Vacations
Like so many of you, I had so many plans for 2020. The birth of a new decade and a new year made me want to chamge my life for the better and try new things. Many brides never got to make it down the isle. Holidays and events cancelled. So many little things that we used to take for granted, are now more precious than ever. Not being able to go abroad this year, made me see that the UK had a lot of nice places. I always knew there were some good spots, but there are some underrated gems. Because I have this goal to set foot on thirty countries, I’m more interested in places abroad and if I got online friends there, I can meet them and even make new friends. Though I’ve also got amazing friends here too.

Vinyl Wishlist
Before the lockdown, I wrote a list of articles that I wanted to write on here on my wordpress blog. This was one of them. Whilst I didn’t do as much writing as I had hoped for, I am still proud of the little achievements and small word counts. My 10th book, a dystopian novel called Game of Mass Destruction got its first review on Goodreads and it’s a positive review.

Favourite Galar Pokemon
I have been a fan of Pokemon since its inception. I don’t think any generation has been hated as much is this one. The main reason for this is cutting out most of the national dex. In my opinion, the story is lacklustre. There was so much unfulfilled potential that Nintendo fans feel betrayed and behind on the times. As awesome as Charizard is, if Charizard is going to be available so should Blastoise and Venusaur. The other starters also need love as well.

My Favourite Alola Pokemon
Alola brought the end of HMs outside of battle and a temporary goodbye to Pokémon gyms in exchange for trials and totem Pokémon. No new Megan’s were introduced but we still got to use them which was nice. Regional variants became a thing which gave some Kanto Pokémon a new lease of life. Some are awesome like the ones mentioned on this list whilst some are strange like Alola’s eggsecutor who is now a dragon apparently.

Game of Thrones by George R. R Martin
I remember when the first episode of Game of Thrones premiered on TV. Everyone was talking about it. Jon Snow popped up on forum signatures. Winter is coming emerged from everybody’s lips. Every taboo theme possible is inside Game of Thrones TV series which takes the name from the first book of a Song of Fire and Ice series. Both the TV series and the books are long and the book series is nowhere near finished. Those hoping to watch the show so they can catch up with the books, are gonna be mislead. I know so many people who have ended up binge watching the entire series, and haven’t even started the books yet.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel to the beloved dystopian series, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I loved the Hunger Games series myself because I loved Katniss as a character. I thought her relationships with Peeta, President Snow, Prim and Gale were all poignant. The political agendas and symbolisms were gorgeous. I’m really glad that it got the praise it deserved and a wonderful film series that did it justice.

Midnight Sun
Midnight Sun is Twilight in Edward Cullen’s point of view. When an early draft of the manuscript was leaked, it really upset Meyer so much that she never finished it until many years later. I think it came to a point where many twilight fans, gave up hope of it ever being released having to rely on fan fiction for their needs. The Twilight Series has divided book lovers. Some readers love the intense teenage romance between Bella and the sparkling vampire, Edward. Others are repulsed at the writing and the characters. However I’ve seen some people say that through another person’s point of view it might chance the story to something more interesting.

Favourite Kalos Pokémon
The Kalos region is based on real life France with its mallow fields, grand castles and Paris-inspired architecture. The sixth generation of Pokémon brought some really cool features with the most prominent ones being the mega-evolutions and the new fairy type. Training and breeding mechanics were easier than ever, battling and online became easier and fun. Whilst Kalos has the smallest new roster of Pokémon, you don’t really notice it as the older Pokémon also do a lot in the games as well with the new forms and the fact you get a Kanto starter of your choice.
