C.Faye spends most of her days encouraging others to overcome the ugly crap in life. She loves to tell stories. She loves music, and mountains. Hiking and Art Museums are life. She's probably wearing converse right now.
Stay Sober No Matter What I started 2020 out sober—it got messy in between with a 3 month binder, and then I ended the year with a sober bang. We have entered into a new year, and I am still sober.
Part one Through the eye's of a five year old, Danny must seem ancient. He's only 34, and his mum doesn't look to be much older. She was only 16 when she gave birth to Daniel.
There is a coffee and bakery shop downtown in Xenia OH, known as the “City of Hospitality.” I found Coffee Hub the first week after I graduated and moved out of Women's Recovery Center back in February of 2018. WRC is a drug and alcohol treatment facility for women. That place saved my life, and this place that I’m about to show you made life more bright.
He was running. God, he was running so fast. “Have I always ran this fast?” It’s been 2 years and 11 months since Marcus had seen anything else outside his two man cell and the occasional time spent outside in the yard. Serving a ten year sentence for manslaughter, Marcus, or “Night Owl” as his cellie liked to call him due to the fact that he was up late every late, had been devising up a plan to break out of prison and head south. Just south. No actual plan beyond escaping, and getting as far away as his feet would take him. Maybe he’ll change his identity and get a job as a cook in a night club somewhere in Tampa. Maybe he’ll run into someone at said night club and score a good paying job as a roofer or something. He was good with his hands, and aside from being a fantastic cook, he was also a skilled craftsman. He wasn’t worried about the struggle of what came next. Just getting the hell away from Powhatan Correctional Center.
That woman is not your mother. Your mother wakes up rested, and content. That woman pacing back and forth searching for the money that she already spent...that woman is not your mother.
I'm a recovering alcoholic, so I don’t drink alcohol. The holidays can be a little tense. It looks fun, what everyone else in the room is participating in. You know, tasting the different wines and all. My cousins wife brings a crock pot to Thanksgiving and Christmas every year that she uses to brew up some fancy, warm apple pie flavored wine. I've never tasted the wine. I'd like to be able to try it without loosing my freaking mind, but that's not a thing and I'm not confused about it.
After the year I've survived, a solo road trip is just what I need to reinvent myself, for myself. 2021, it is ok to show me why it all had to happen. But first, we're heading to Nantahala National Forest in Bryson City, North Carolina to do some hiking, and spend some time listening to the sun.
I pray for creativity to pour over me like a willow tree from a Disney scene. Remembering the time when I was just a preteen.
