I Bought an Oculus but it Wasn't What I Was Promised
I was ecstatic when I walked into the electronics store with four hundred dollars, and even happier when I walked out with a brand new Oculus Quest Two. When I got home I set everything up and purchased a couple of the most interesting-looking games from the app store. The beautiful app store, the only reason I chose this headset over all of the others on the market today, boasts an entirely in-VR and untethered experience. It doesn't need to be hooked up to a PC to run games. Which is exactly what I needed.
Clothing Changes During War
War takes its toll on not just the political aspects of life but on a variety of day to day matters, and nothing is more universal than clothing. Waking up and putting on clothing is built into our routines and is inarguably one of the most commonplace behaviors in society. Being such a staple of everyday life war must have an impact on what type of clothing is worn. The Civil War impacted every aspect of life in America and that included clothing; cotton shortages changed the types of fabrics worn, mass death meant mourning clothes and memory jewelry were prevalent, the clothing of slaves changed dramatically from before and after they gained freedom, and the war meant uniforms on both sides for medical professionals and volunteers.
My Home Is Burning
You've probably seen pictures and videos of California on the news by now. Forests, and businesses, and homes all flattened by the blazes. There is also a lot that you didn't see on the news. You couldn't see the yellow skies, not just during the fires but for weeks after. You couldn't feel the burn that comes with having more smoke in your lungs than air or feel the sting in your eyes. You couldn't hear the barely masked panic of officials as they tried to convince us that everything was going to be fine. Everything wasn't fine. Everything isn't fine.
Why Future Stardew Valley Updates May Be a Bad Thing
Like many other Stardew Valley players, I was ecstatic when I heard about the update to the game. With new characters to meet and content to explore, not to mention putting furniture outside! I, like many others, was giddy with anticipation for the release. I've been playing Stardew Valley for years and with these additions, not to mention the promise of future updates, I was very happy but after the update had lost its shiny new appeal I started to think about the ramifications this may have. Although ConcernedApe has said publicly that he plans on working on other games in the future, I’m left to wonder if this update may have unintended ramifications for the indie developer.
