The Death of Mainstream Media
It is said that anything that has a beginning will inevitably come to an end. This premise is one of the only things that is guaranteed for any person, place or thing in the known universe. Although I would have never guessed that we would see the end come for something as enveloped in today’s society as mainstream media. Big time news networks like CNN, FOX, and MSNBC have all been victims of a downward spiral in both content quality and ratings within the last decade. Presentation of biased opinions, partial information, and over-all edited versions of the truth have spear headed this downward spike in viewers for major news networks. A few months ago, a Knight Foundation and Gallup poll was released stating Americans trust in these news networks was at an all-time low. In addition to the kamikaze-like internal dilemmas of mainstream media today, there are a few outside factors playing a role in its downfall as well.
If Anime Took on the Marvel Universe
With the recent success of Infinity War and the sequel title around a half ways away, along with that new Jump Force game due to be released some time these next few weeks... There has been an abundance of speculation, to say the least. Fans, on both sides of the fence, have been asking the question... Who would triumph in an all out war between the anime universe (which would include; Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece,One Punch Man, and My Hero Academia) and the Marvel comic book universe. As a long time fan of both, my entire life to be more specific, I personally believe I can add some valuable insight on this particular hypothetical conflict. Now to be clear! There would be no dominating victor in this contest. Both sides have a long list of contending characters along with their star characters and over all beast characters that are seemingly impossible to stop on their own. That being said there are a variety of different advantages that pertain to both sides of the conflict as well.
The country of Indonesia has always proved a difficult place to live throughout human history. This is cause of its location on the belt of fire, the portion of the world that wraps around the Pacific ocean that is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Its thousands of islands are littered with active volcanoes. The people of this nation are no stranger to natural bred chaos. Although on the 28th of September mother nature would concoct one of those abnormal events that would cost the lives of thousands. The event ignited when a 7.5 magnitude earthquake ruptured the earths surface near Lende; a small town on the northern part of one of the nations islands. The massive quake would ripple on to form a titan 20 foot wave that would roll right into the bay leading toward the city of Palu. The town of Donggala, city of Palu, Petobo and Balaroa were all severely impacted by the tsunami. Palu got the short end of stick taking the brunt of the wave, this cost thousands of homes to be damaged and the cities biggest bridge to collapse. After several days the death toll has racked up to well over 1,500 people, with a few thousand people still believed to be unaccounted for. 2.4 million in total are believed to have been effected in some way by the fall out of this catastrophe, 600,000 of those are said to be children. The large scale body count is highly due to a warnings system failure, reports from on the ground news agencies said people had little time to prepare for what was to come. Although the Indonesian government may not be to blame. Scientist are speculating over the fact that earthquakes that take place on land usually do not go on to form tsunamis, in retrospect claiming the secondary natural disaster to be no doubt a rare event.
It's Not Over
You feel alone... The worst part of being dumped is always the intense feeling of loneliness that goes alongside of it. Heartbreak has always been a feeling powerful enough to drive people to do ridiculous things, from the battle of troy in Greek mythology to the horrifying stabbing at Coral Gables Senior High in 2009. The reality of how powerful a broken heart can be, has made echos throughout the entire history of mankind. We find ourselves, under these circumstances, behaving differently then we normally would. Doing things we would not normally ever do, usually quick with little or no thinking involved. Love can indeed make you crazy...
'The Avengers,' Space Force and Our Real American Heroes
We, the American people, have been most certainly blessed with a nation that defends our personal safety constantly. We lead relatively safer lives on a day to day basis, In comparison to many of the other countries we share this planet with. Its not to say that we do not have a great deal of our own issues here at home. Yet the fact remains that due to the strong efforts of our elected leaders and military power worldwide, most Americans have the privilege of going to sleep at night feeling safe. We often have used this hard-earned freedom to create some of the biggest artistic and scientific accomplishments known to man. One industry that benefits from this the most is the movie industry. Over the last 50 years Hollywood has produced some of the most epic films the world has ever seen. Star Wars, Avatar, The Fast & The Furious, Titanic, Harry Potter, Terminator, and most recently Avengers: Infinity War being by far the most profitable movie of all time.
Events It's Monday morning, June 18. Reporters swarm a room in the White House waiting for what was potentially the most historic news in space exploration this year. President Donald Trump announced that he would momentarily be signing a directive for The Department of Defense to create the sixth branch of our military. What will be known as Space Force, separated completely from our Air Force. "Our nation of pioneers still yearns to conquer the unknown because we are Americans and the future belongs totally to us. Once more we will lead humanity, and that's what it is humanity, beyond the earth and into those forbidden skies but they will not be forbidden for much longer." The president went on to say that he is going to give the "DOD" the means of creating a system for long-term traffic coordination in outer space; promising other things like more spacecraft, vehicles for other celestial bodies, and other new updated technology necessary for the overall goal.
- Hawaii, Kilauea Volcano - It was on the 3rd of may when the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory issued an evacuation order for hundreds of people. A fissure had opened up near the indigenous volcanic structure Kilauea, causing alarm for scientist at the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The half a mile long crack in the earth would be the first of 24 to open in an eruption event that would go on to last to this day. Pelehonuamea or Pele for short, the Hawaiian goddess believed to reside in Kilauea's crater, had unleashed her wrath on her native people. Credited to the swift response time at the observatory, the eruption has yet to take any lives and there has only been one serious injury. Although i wish the same could be said for the actual island itself. 500 homes have been destroyed already leaving an immense amount of people homeless. Thankfully the president has directed that financial assistance be provided to the people who did lose their homes. Pele also claimed a legendary victim when lava flow completely evaporated Green Lake, the biggest lake in the entire state. Legend has it that the goddess would come down to bathe in the lake herself. If the loss of their lake wasn't shocking enough for residents, the collapse of Kilauea's crater would be. Geologist do not exactly know what consequences that will have on the eruption as it continues.
