H'ween Horrorthon: Black Swan
"If I were only casting the White Swan, she would be yours. But I'm not."Vincent Cassel as Thomas Leroy/The Gentleman Hello again. So, my Halloween Horrorthon is now in full swing and this latest entry is the last one for September. Looking forward to regaling you with October's as I've lined up some major goodies, of which includes a perennial animated holiday favorite and even a short film with a certain pop music legend. At any rate, here's the latest in my movie repertoire and it's the first one from this decade.

George Glenn Jones: Hell Raiser. Country Music Advocate. Legend.
No country singer holds a legacy quite like George Jones. Born on September 12, 1931, in Saratoga, Texas, he was a significant country musician, singer, and songwriter. He reached international fame, with over 150 hit records to his name, including his signature song, "He Stopped Loving Her Today." With his unique tone and "jaw clenching" phrasing, he is frequently referred to as the greatest country singer—one who completely immersed himself in the lyrics he was delivering. Indeed, he is the one that "up-and-rising" country singers listen to and the ones of his generation did their best to imitate. But there was, and will only be, one George Glenn Jones.

H'ween Horrorthon: 'SAW' (2004)
"Live or die. Make your choice." Tobin Bell as Jigsaw. "Hello reader. I want to play a game". Right now, this blogger is forcing himself to relive the nightmare of watching a movie which, though praised by many for its originality and its raw verve, this blogger dismissed vehemently on account that while it had plenty of sick, shocking moments, it was not his cup of tea, even though he had subjected himself to every gross-out picture known to man. The film in question, was the first of its kind, where a serial killer decided to teach his victims the value of human life. It would be the first time a horror movie would give you front row seats to a carnival freak-show where victims would be tortured to death for sport—or rather, in this case, to see the bigger picture.

"It don't mean nothin' till you sign it on the dotted line" Hello again and welcome to our little fun 'list. This artist is a "cherry pick" indeed. My buddy Calvin "Oates" Cherry has seen this artist numerous times in concert (he's seen him seven times) and he is a lifelong fan. Don't believe me? Here's the proof.

Movie Review: 'Mother!' 2017
I will extend congratulations to director Darren Aronofsky for making the most polarizing horror film of the year and perhaps, even the decade. I admit I had absolutely no idea what I was in for when I went to see this film. Aronofsky's current girlfriend, Jennifer Lawrence stars in it. That should account for something. Spanish actor Javier Bardem has always given knockout performances; so there was no reason to worry. Veteran stars Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer were also in the cast, so I had no reason to assume the talent wasn't up to par. And Aronofsky had earned my respect years ago when his first film, Pi was released in 1998. Shot in grainy black & white and disturbing from start to finish; it signaled Aronofsky's arrival. He went on to bigger and better things, such as Requiem for a Dream (2000), The Fountain (2006), The Wrestler (2008), Black Swan (2010) and Noah (2014). So, what could possibly go wrong with this one? In a word? Lots!

H'ween Horrorthon: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
"The film which you are about to see is an account of the tragedy which befell a group of five youths, in particular Sally Hardesty and her invalid brother, Franklin. It is all the more tragic in that they were young. But, had they lived very, very long lives, they could not have expected nor would they have wished to see as much of the mad and macabre as they were to see that day. For them an idyllic summer afternoon drive became a nightmare. The events of that day were to lead to the discovery of one of the most bizarre crimes in the annals of American history, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre."Opening narration for the film.

"It's alright, it's alright, it's alright. She moves in mysterious ways." Hello, one and all. This one's a special list, as it profiles a band that both my BFF, Oates, and I love. They're a band from Dublin, Ireland who had already established themselves as stars in their native UK, but took awhile to make a stronger dent here in the states — and it happened exactly 30 years ago!

"I guess you're just what I needed". Hello and welcome. This latest spotlight is on a band that just has only one thing going for it. Fun! Do I sound like a broken record? Maybe. But, that's what I firmly believe about music - it should be fun. Growing up that way I did, not allowed initially to listen to rock music because it was considered sacrilege, it was years after rediscovering the joy of my lost youth through music.

H'ween Horrorthon: Pet Sematary
"Sometimes...dead is better."–Jud Crandall played by Fred Gwynne Hello again, hello. Let me say at the outset that I am a die-hard Stephen King fan. When dreaming of making the perfect horror movie or writing the perfect horror story back in my restless youth, his books and movies were always my favorite pastime. I read his many works and stories and watched many of his film adaptations, many of which are queued and perennial favorites in my annual Halloween Horrorthon.

"It's just another day for you and me, in paradise." Hello, and thanks for reading! This spotlight artist is a personal favorite of mine. I remember hearing his haunting smash ballad, "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" back in 1984, and literally crying my eyes out. Mind you, I was only a mere 12 years old, but, the voice, the melody and the poignant urgency of the song touched me quite deeply. I made it a point to buy up all his records from that point on. I did just that and have been a lifelong fan ever since, even despite the worries that he's now "Old Hat." It was also to my incredible joy that he was also the lead singer of one of my favorite 80s rock group: Genesis. Yes...they are due for a future 'list very soon. Meantime. Me and my buddy Oates will share this latest 'list of one Philip David Charles Collins of West London, UK.
