That time I was stopped and searched
We all know the current state of the world in regards to racism and perceptions of law enforcement. The conversation has brought up some past memories of my own that I have been meaning to share but I feel like now is the perfect time to tell this story.

Everything wrong with your friends
Now, there are probably a lot of things wrong with your friends. Maybe they send you memes on Instagram from private accounts that you don’t follow or maybe they insist on having ketchup with every meal. Friends come in all shapes and sizes and although we strive to be effective allies to our nearest and dearest we often get it wrong. I don’t know if you know this but humans aren’t always rational. We do dumb things, we make uninformed decisions and generally just get things wrong. Which is okay for the most part. However in regards to the people we call our friends we expect certain qualities.

The Ultimate Guide to getting Started in Photography
In such a technologically savvy society and the prevalence of social media you may be thinking about flexing your digital muscles. A great skill I believe the majority of people can benefit from in 2020 is photography. Of course I am heavily biased as I’ve fallen in love with the art in the past couple of years but with the majority of human beings (in western society anyway) being active on social media platforms it helps to know how to take a decent photograph. I also think it’s a valuable skill for anyone in the arts/creative/marketing industries.

I went on a date
Dating is a weird game. We all feel a bit awkward going on that first date with good reason. Are you making the right decision? What if you don’t get on? What if she doesn’t look anything like her photos? All questions I had going into my first ever date. Yes, I repeat FIRST. I want to tell you all a story… A story of anxiety, romance and deception.

WHY ARE WE SO INVESTED IN THE LIVES OF CELEBRITIES?
You know when someone says they’re obsessed with a certain celebrity, do you find that a bit odd? I mean, chances are you don’t because I’m sure you have a certain celebrity who’s national insurance number you know off by heart. But I think there is a clear distinction between liking a celebrity because of their work and literally immersing yourself in their day-to-day personal life.

The Fallacy of Diversity
If you were expecting a blog post about the dance troupe Diversity and their Britain’s Got Talent performance then I apologise for fooling you. I actually wrote this before that whole situation even occurred. But I promise, this is still a good read.

War on Tomatoes
Why are tomatoes so damn prevalent in our society. They have now become a staple in most sandwiches and meals. I ask… WHY? There seems to be a consensus that tomatoes are just as universal as lettuce. NEWSFLASH THEY ARE NOT. I know a number of people who don’t like tomatoes but have you ever met anyone that doesn’t like lettuce.

How to have a conversation
I’m sure you are all in a similar situation where the stresses of quarantine and self isolation has you speaking to yourself more than usual. Maybe you’re reflecting on your career, relationships or just generally other issues that plague our society other than Covid-19. When you delve deep into the rabbit hole that is YouTube you never knew how passionate you felt about The Slow Food Movement (Look it up).

It's okay to care what other people think about you
You’re gonna hear a lot of people round you preaching the idea that you shouldn’t let the opinions of other people affect what you want to do in life. At face value, a normal sentiment and one that I think the majority of people would agree with. I mean for the longest time I agreed with it too. The idea that as long as we are happy and living life to the fullest why should the opinion of other people impact us. I do believe this mindset works for a number of different scenarios we experience through our lives. For example, picking a career path your parents don’t agree with, dating a person your friends don’t like or having questions about your own identity. But when you take each of these scenarios I also think it is perfectly ok to care what other people think about the decisions you’re making.
