Christmas Treasures - Simple Treasures
Simple Treasures Rainy days are not fun. Sam and his little brother Jim knew this all too well, as they sat at the kitchen table playing “Chutes and Ladders.” For a change, they weren’t constantly accusing each other of cheating. No, not at this time of year. They both knew they must be on their best behavior because Christmas was near.
Christmas Treasures - Treasured Tradition
Treasured Tradition PART ONE Tim sat in the back seat of his father's car, staring out the side window without really seeing anything. He was bored! Christmas vacation had just started and now he was forced to leave all his friends, to visit his grandfather. Tim had been looking forward to this vacation. He wanted to get together with some of his friends and go to some Christmas parties. Now that he was old enough to understand mistletoe, he was eager to meet some girls. He was not ready to go steady with a girl, but there were many school dances coming up and he wanted to start meeting some girls so he would have a good list of prospects to choose from. Now he was going to miss all the fun just because his mother wanted to "do the family tradition thing." Hanging around a bunch of old people, a hundred miles away from anywhere, was not his idea of a "Merry Christmas." His mother tried to make things better by telling him he could learn to ski. She never asked him if that was what he wanted. He wanted to go to parties with his friends.
Dark Dig 15 - Tales Of the Dead
Tales Of the Dead Ben was visibly excited to have Fronia accompany him to Athens. For one thing he was not familiar with the city and she could help him find the coroner’s office. It also gave him a chance to talk to her without everyone listening. He was looking for an opportunity to find out more about Fronia’s scheme to slip him one of the pills. He had to concede there was a time when the thought was tempting, but now that there were dead bodies resulting, his lust was lost.
Dark Dig 16 - A Battle Royal
A Battle Royal Todd’s squad strategically took positions in the shadows near the entrance they were assigned. Their heads-up display showed a cluster of red dots around the area believed to be where the cult leader was. There was rapid movement from one room down the hall. Todd suspected it was their communication center and there were people rushing back and forth with new messages. He reported this to the commander and got confirmation that it was indeed a com-center and team one was assigned to take it out.
Dark Dig 14 - Evidence Mounts
Evidence Mounts The dining hall was nearly empty by the time Marcus and Carol started down the serving line. There was no lack of empty tables, but Carol noticed Ruth and Ben at a table near the exit. Ben jumped up to greet them and commented that it looked like they got a better night’s rest than he did. Ruth raised her coffee mug in a wearily toast to greet the new arrivals. Marcus joked about how it must be the extra 30 minutes that made the difference and was the reason for their tardiness.
Dark Dig 13 - Ben's Dilemma
Ben's Dilemma Marcus raced out of the parking area right behind Todd. He was eager to get back to the dig, to see what new treasures were cataloged awaiting his review. He was especially eager to get on with his real mission in life.
Dark Dig 12 - Reflections Over Events
Reflections Over Events Marcus listened closely to everything Ruth and Ben reported and tried to understand some of the details that were cloaked in a Vail of red tape. Carol was happy they had so much to report as it prevented any questions about what Marcus and she were doing all afternoon. Even though much of the report referenced top secret files that Carol had no idea of the true nature, she was able to see there was a clear link between the local cult and some Iran Government sponsored terror group.
Dark Dig 8 - More Questions
More Questions - No Results It was late before the couple regained consciousness. It was much later than either had anticipated. The sun was already high in the clear blue sky. Rushing to get dressed to greet the day they constantly bumped into each other.
Dark Dig 9 - Learn from the Gods
Learn from the Gods By the time Marcus and Carol appeared for breakfast, Ruth and Fronia were well on their way to Athens. Ellen explained how Fronia and Ruth stayed up most of the night talking; they decided to surprise Ben at the airport. While they ate, Ellen busied herself with cleaning up. She politely avoided the temptation to comment on the two love-birds needing to come up for air.
Dark Dig 10 - A Solemn Day
A Solemn Day “Well good morning you two. You’re just in time for breakfast. It must have been the Gods warning me not to wake you earlier, or maybe it was the unmistakable sounds of passion that persuaded me to let you have some privacy,” Ellen teased.
Dark Dig 7 - Back at the Dig
Meanwhile Back at the Dig Marcus was visibly upset. The day was not going well and the video update only added to his frustration. Now he was mad because he wasted time on the video instead of working with his crew to move the huge stone blocking their progress.
