I Tricked My Husband to Exercise with Me — RVing in Retirement
After a day of traveling, be it 2 hours or 6, our bodies stiffen and tire. It is easy to move from the driver’s seat to the chair and then to bed because everything hurts. Believe me, once you turn 60 everything is going to hurt anyways so you might as well create systems that trick your mind into moving.

RV Camping Provides Moments to Appreciate Nature - RVing in Retirement
Traveling in an RV unites the purity of nature that my soul craves with the comforts my body desires by providing the luxuries I have come to appreciate. I have never been one to rough it, but I also acknowledge the influence of a campfire, birds singing, and the feel of the breeze on my face.

Travel Builds Strength to Confront What Waits at Home
My husband and I drove out of the driveway as we started our month-long adventure. Though the awareness that our responsibilities were limited while traveling through the mountains, deserts, and small towns, we kept our phones within reach knowing reception was limited. We expected to have limited contact with the outside world knowing in the event of a real emergency, we could be found. The phones worked more as cameras on our trip. When we exited the city limits, our bodies screamed for time to shut down and reboot.

Dagney is a Great Watch Dog but Fails as a Guard Dog
She sprawls out across the back of the couch watching. Her head turns from side to side, like a bobble head doll, searching the perimeter. Dagney, our fearless female warrior, rules her kingdom from her couch throne. She watches for threats, waiting vigilantly to attack.

Never Be Bored on a Road Trip Again - RVing in Retirement
A while back I shared an article titled Why Does the Road Curve in the Desert? I asked readers to share how they spend their time when traveling long distances. The responses were creative, humorous, and inspiring. Below I share some of the responses and provide links for further investigation.

My Brother Sent Me Sightseeing to a Toxic LakeTop Story - March 2021
A couple months ago, while I sat at our Cabin surrounded by four feet of snow, my brother and his wife sent a picture of a beautiful beach they visited in California, where they live for six months as snowbirds. They had driven to Salton Sea Lake about an hour from their home in Desert Sands. It looked beautiful and alluring. I desired to be there. So as my husband and I started planning for our pilgrimage to warmer weather, I included this destination on our itinerary.

Death Happens, Prepare an Exit Plan When Traveling
OK, this may sound morbid, but we learned an important lesson when my father passed in July, write down your burial wishes. When my brother and I sat in the funeral home, we were asked so many questions and provided so many choices that our heads started spinning, Finally, my brother bluntly asked, "What is the cheapest?" We knew that is what Dad would want.

We Drive, Golf, Drink a Beer then Repeat - RVing in Retirement
My husband introduced me to golf anticipating as we aged a stroll over grassy greens on a warm summer day would provide relaxation and recreation. When traveling to a new location, we investigate the golf options and book a tee time for the following day. It provides exercise as we enjoy nature at our temporary home. I love the sport but will admit, learning pushed the limits of our marriage.

It's Time Overachievers Became the Cool Kids
The status label of cool often is awarded to the wrong people. Too seldom it is the perfectionist, intellectuals, self-starters, or individualist. In fact, in most settings, these people earn titles that are less than cool: wannabe, kiss ass, social climbers, geek or showoffs.

Reading Billboards in Vegas Tainted My Innocence - RVing in Retirement
Warning: This story is not for the faint at heart. If you are easily offended, do not proceed. As my husband and I drove our RV through Vegas, the colors and flashing lights triggered my ADHD. My mind spun into overdrive, but when we passed a sign advertising a show, Puppetry of the Penis, I pointed it out and commented we should turn in there. My husband’s hearing aids must not have been turned up or he simply tuned out the sarcasm in my voice, started to turn into the parking lot. He asked, “Are you serious?”
