The Constrained and Unconstrained Vision of America
Over my years teaching students from all walks of life, including immigrants, I was always amazed at the fortitude of those immigrants to succeed. I noticed this same fortitude among students coming from all religions and cultures. They came from broken homes, abusive marriages, and poverty. I have also seen many students coming from mills and manufacturing plants that closed due to poor trade deals made by our government. We would also see second career seekers from industry, military, or government. These students represented the true diversity of our society that is not defined by race and gender. They were successful if they were given the opportunity, and they assimilated into the culture of healthcare regardless of race or gender. Their talents and experiences brought a diversity of thought, which helped them succeed.

The New Way Forward Act
After 9/11, we were made aware of the immigration laws which allowed overstay of Visas, thus allowing the terrorists to hit the Twin Towers and Pentagon. We lost thousands of Americans on that fateful day. It included those on Flight 93 in that lonely field in Pennsylvania. Since 9/11, we have not had a major attack on our soil since many of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission were enacted. These safety nets may change if we do not stand together on this issue. Regardless of party affiliation or your feelings for President Trump, H. R. 5383 (The New Way Forward Act) was introduced on December 10, 2019 that makes us unsafe once again. It was introduced by:

Make America Think Again
I Heard It From Friend My life revolves around investigating matters brought before our Board. This includes preparing documents such as subpoenas, case summaries, and recordings. I have to sit through countless hours of testimony in an informal or formal setting. We often hear secondhand accounts, but those accounts must be proven with evidence. It can provide some context, but it cannot be used to revoke a license. It sounds boring to most, but it is necessary to keep the public safe. For this reason, I was curious about the hearings last week, so I listened to hours of the recorded hearings since last week since I refuse to believe anything in the media. Of course, it also helps if you have an old song playing in your head. As I listened, it reminded me of a song by REO Speedwagon, “Take It On The Run.” While it would not quite fit, I retooled the first two stanzas for today, and it would go like this:

Make America Think Again: King, Dictator, or Tyrant
I tend to look at current events through the prism of the past. It gives us the most perspective on what to expect next. Since Trump has been referred to as a King, Dictator, and Tyrant, I thought it appropriate to evaluate the actions of our “elected leaders” through the prism of history to determine who is acting in such a manner.

Make America Think Again: Walk a Mile in My Shoes
Today is the day. Your case is being heard in court, but you are not invited. You are reminded that court officials went on record more than three years ago, stating you were guilty of crime even before the investigation began. The lead prosecutor stated for nearly three years that they have compelling evidence in plain sight you committed these crimes but never presented the evidence in court. After an extensive investigation, it was determined no crime was committed. You felt relieved, and you could go on with life. However, the prosecutor was not satisfied, so you have now been accused of more crimes publicly. He along with other prosecutors continue to pursue you, which disrupts your life, your family’s life, and your ability to do your job. Today is the day that it is heard and you feel some sense of justice coming.

Make America Think Again (Pt. 2)
If impeachment is necessary as claimed by the Democrats in the House of Representatives, everyone, regardless of political alignment and feelings for the President, should want the process to be transparent. Love him or hate him; you should care about the process. Why? According to Representatives Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler, the evidence shows that the President has violated the law and oath of office. If so, they are obligated by law to impeach if this is true with a full House vote then place him on trial in the Senate. Otherwise, it should be dropped due to the lack of evidence. While they cite the mandate by the US Constitution, most proceedings are not laid out in the US Constitution at all. The Constitution is a framework “to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America (The Constitution of the United States, 2015).”

Make America Think Again
On any given day in my professional role, I receive complaints against licensed practitioners. In some cases, the individual calling might be considered a whistle-blower since they are also calling about the facility. Regardless, we give every complaint due process. Before launching a full investigation, which includes issuing a subpoena, the complainant is questioned regarding their knowledge of the events. It may go in several ways.
