Diggy's Second Unexpected Arrival
Diggy’s debut album Unexpected Arrival came out about six years ago and had three singles that did fairly well on the charts and on 106 & Park (RIP). After the album was released, Diggy turned 18, which meant that his music took a drastic turn and included more cursing and more mature topics, shocking much of his young tween audience. The transition was expected, but it was a bit abrupt. Especially since Diggy all but disappeared soon after. He released a handful of songs and “freestyles” over the six years that clearly demonstrated that his artistry was improving, but there was nothing mainstream nor a full body of work.

After the Live Action 'Lion King,' Reboots Need to Stop
When I heard that there would be a live action Lion King staring Beyonce and Donald Glover, I was just as excited as the next person. Donald Glover is an incredible artist and is incredibly versatile in both his acting and music; he balances the non-toxic masculinity, chivalry, and openness that a character like Simba has. And of course, Beyonce is a Queen, just like Nala.

'New Yuck City' and 'IIWII' Review
'New Yuck City' Dirty Sanchez stole the show on “Audiopium,” the final track on the Nyck @ Knight mixtape by Kirk Knight and Nyck Caution. The track was named after the term “audiopium,” coined by Capital $teez on Joey Bada$$’s “Killuminati” and features all of Pro Era within two tracks and a hook. While each member delivers a powerful verse, in an incredibly quick and concise manner, Dirty Sanchez stands out. Not only is his verse longer than the others, but his voice has a raspy quality that works incredibly well with the beat and his high level of energy. His “Audiopium” verse in addition to his verses on tracks like “Pro Era Cakes 2” made me really anticipate his New Yuck City project.

Atlanta's "FUBU" Episode: What's Up with Denisha?
The "FUBU" episode of Atlanta was a large topic of conversation after it aired. The episode told a lot of truths; it discussed tag checking, bullying, difficulties faced by teachers/school administrators, etc. It also answered a lot of questions about the relationship dynamic between Earn and Al. For example, the audience learns that Al has been bailing Earn out of difficult situations since their adolescence, which makes their conversations in both the series premiere and the season finale make much more sense.

'This Is America:' A Quick Analysis
Childish Gambino has broken the internet with his new single "This is America." Not only am I here to jump on the bandwagon and to stan for him, but I wanted to talk about the song, specifically. The music video is packed with figurative imagery that people just can't stop analyzing. However, the song has a lot of substance as well.

I Refuse to Monetarily Support Movies Without Minorities
Lately, my response to those that ask me if I'm going to see a movie in the theater is, "Nope, there aren't enough black people in it." For some reason, this never ceases to surprise people, even those that know me and understand that my blackness is the most prominent part of my identity.

Stop Trying to Revive 90s Classics
From the creation of live action versions of our favorite cartoons to rebooting classical television shows, there has been a lot of talk about injecting the 90s right into 2000s. On the surface, bringing back classics like these seems like a great idea. Many classic shows and movies have developed a cult following through the internet and social media; this means that there is a great target audience and lots of interest for these reboots and, in most cases, it helps bring about actors that we have not seen work in while. However the love that we have for classics simply cannot be duplicated and seems to be indicative of the lack of creativity and inspiration that seems to exist in the television and film industries.

An Analysis of Erik Killmonger: Why That Quote Isn't That Great
Like most everyone, I couldn't wait to see Black Panther (2018). In fact, I went to see the movie twice. On both the first and second viewings, I cringed at Erik Killmonger's death scene; this was purely because of what he said prior to pulling the knife from his chest. After T'Challa offers to use Wakandan technology to cure Killmonger, Killmonger says this:

A Review of Chris Rock's 'Tamborine'
The last two years or so have been enriched with black comedy. From Dave Chappelle's previous work with Netflix and his time at Radio City Music Hall to Trevor Noah's brilliant job on The Daily Show, black comedy has not been this prominent in pop culture in years. When I saw that Chris Rock was going to have a new comedy special on Netflix, I was extremely excited, and of course, Rock did not disappoint.

Music Projects We NEED in 2018Top Story - February 2018
Childish Gambino I'm not sure what name he plans to use when he puts out his new project, but if his new deal with RCA is an indicator, there is new music that is coming soon. He shook up the world with Awaken, My Love! as no one expected a funk/R&B album in 2017. It was an album that was incredibly fresh and nostalgic at the same time. I'm wondering whether his new music will be more along the lines of funk, like his last album, rap, like albums prior to this one, or something else. After the Grammys he said that he will be making his next project his last.
