Derek replaced the dusty crib bedding with the fresh bedding and moved on to wipe down the changing station and other surfaces. While he worked, he remembered the day Janet had told him she was pregnant; the first time.
Derek watched as Kelly and Byron shared one last kiss. He knew it was their last; he had seen the same thing back in the city.
Upon seeing what was left of Vivian Lansky, Derek felt his resolve kick back into high gear. Byron was a maniac who needed to be stopped.
Two days after Byron and Lady Death met, Derek was wondering if he should regret his plan and if he had just helped to create an unstoppable couple of murderers.
Derek had been excited about the move at first. His life had been exactly what he always wanted it to be. He had the career he wanted, a beautiful wife he loved and a baby on the way.
Kelly was humming happily as she finished setting up the dining room for Byron’s surprise when she heard his car pull into the driveway. She quickly ran out of the room and pulled the drapes over the doorway so he couldn’t see it until she was ready.
Kelly walked back over to join Byron. “Let’s go home.” she told him. He walked along next to her without trying to struggle until they reached the car. Then he began to fight her hold over him.
Kelly saw the guys in the alley. She also saw the sinister look in Byron’s eyes as he laughed along with them. She had been right about there being mystery in his eyes. He had a dark side. A very dark side.
