spaced out
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. If so why could he hear so many scary noises in the air around him. The ship was empty bar him, modern technology had made humans almost obsolete . The human was just there in case the computer had a malfunction. Completely opposite from the first space cruiser.

drifting away
He had planned this day, this time and this location carefully. It wasn't a spur of the moment thing, most importantly nobody else was directly involved. He didn't want to leave anyone with the trauma or the guilt. This was all down to him and nobody else.

Train to where
Have you had one of those dreams where you open an eye and aren't sure if you have woken or am I still dreaming. I did on that day, the dream in fact seemed more real then the view through my one open eye. The dream was one I had experienced many times before, I was due in work and I was late.

7 years ago I nearly died
It had been a full week with my ex, my birthday and we got engaged. Heading home after a great week we hit the central reservation, bounced across a dual carriageway and hit a crash barrier at around 70 mph. We ended up sitting sideways across the busy road with the airbags deployed in front of us. My ex looking through the smashed window at the traffic braking suddenly .

into the fire?
This piece came up from an incident yesterday. I have a million things going on, including getting married in 5 days. I was heading to town with my fiancé when we were stopped by pedestrians to be told there was an accident. My instant reaction was to ask if they needed a first aider.

Blood bank
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." Everyone who lived in the village remembered the old man who had lived in the cabin. He was a recluse who only ventured to the village every 2 weeks for basic supplies. The smoke rising from the chimney told everyone how he created heating and probably cooking. The stream running down from the mountain appeared to supply him with his water, the rack of animal carcasses seemed to show where he got his food from.

Covid diary, day 600
To start with I had a positive covid test on December third 2020. I am suffering still and day 600 sounded a reasonable guess. It was a bad start, I found out I hadn't had a deserved promotion and went to bed disappointed. I woke up feeling rough and so took a covid test. Three days later covid was confirmed.

Beware, low flying dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Indeed they could usually only be seen with a decent pair of binoculars as they soared and dived high above. If they wanted to eat or sleep the villagers thought they probably went to a different village. They hoped they weren't the next village to be chosen if one of the dragons got peckish.

Embrace the grey
You might read somewhere else in my writings that I am not a fan of fake. Embrace how you look, how you behave and what you like. Don't go with trends unless you choose to. On that note of embrace your grey hair and signs of aging, you have earned the wrinkles and laugh lines.

Hillsborough disaster
For those not born or not in the uk the disaster might not be so well known. It was the semi final of the fa cup and was between Liverpool and Nottingham forest. It had long been tradition for semi finals to be played at neutral grounds, now its Wembley for semi finals and final.

my first gig post covid
Finally after 2 years i got my life back with a concert, in fact now two. Money and a limited amount of bands I want to see usually mean around 10 concerts a year. So I was either building up to a concert or recovering after. The shut down meant a concert I was going to at the start of march 2020 and that was it.

TAYLOR HAWKINS
Today has been a very strange day. Last night after my shower i put on a clean t shirt , only wearing it briefly I decided I could wear it still today. Its an old UK Ozzfest shirt, on the back is the list of bands that played. Its the only shirt I own with Foo Fighters on and the only time I saw them.
