Dear Vocal, I Love You But…
I’m fairly new to the world of online writing platforms. Vocal was my first, and I joined just seven months ago. I was drawn in by an ad for a poetry contest back in May. I’ll admit that I have thoroughly enjoyed this journey so far, but it hasn’t been without some frustrations and the frustration with Vocal seems to be growing.

Elliana ~ My ‘Designer Poodle’
It was early on the morning of April 23rd when the telephone rang. I was just getting ready to head out the door to do chores. My dear friend and neighbor wanted to know if I could help her out with a ‘situation’. She had just finished her morning check, in the lambing pen. Two of her ewes had delivered overnight, but there were 3 babies, and each ewe only wanted one. There was no way of knowing which one had twins.

We're still in the grips of an 'Extreme Cold' weather warning. It is getting warmer though. Right now it's -29C, with a windchill of -39. At least that's what they say, but that wind is awful! I think I prefer -39 with no wind, over this. At least when there's no wind you can put on layers and your body heat stays well enough to keep you warm.

$88 and a Red Envelope
It's New Year's Eve! We finally get to put this year behind us! I'm ready, are you? I've always found it entertaining to research superstitions and there are tons surrounding this particular day. My paternal grandmother was said to be incredibly superstitious, but she passed away when I was 8. I only remember her tossing salt over her shoulder whenever she spilled some.

It seems the weather might finally be breaking this morning. It's only -28C, instead of almost -40, with windchills into the -50s. When I went out to check on the goats, it was almost comfortable. At least my skin didn't hurt by the time I returned to the house.
