Mental Health Songs That Got Me Through Middle School
In recent years, mental health has become a huge topic in media and everyday life. Ten years ago, when I was in middle school, it was not such an accepted topic. I have depression, anxiety and anorexia, all of which got brought to the forefront of my mind in middle school. School is hard for everyone, that’s just a fact, but it is harder for some than it is for others. When going through grade school, I found numerous vices to help alleviate the mental turmoil that I experience; music being one of them. I don’t think I realized it at the time, but my favorite songs were never love songs, they were specific to mental health. In a time of dread and anxiety, it's no surprise that my go-to playlist was based off of songs portraying the same feeling and surviving them.

Social Anxiety Made Me Do It
Social anxiety is a terrible, horrible, no good thing to have, but it does give you some good stories. Like tonight for example. I had booked myself a 90 minute, full body massage a few weeks back and have been excitedly awaiting ever since. I arrived at my appointment half an hour early, which was completely unnecessary, and waited in my car until it was time to check in. I explained to the masseur some of the aches that brought me in, and then she left the room to allow me to undress and lie down on the bed.

Going to my 'Happy Place'
Some days, work is just draining. ( Well, most days) Leaving the office in a bad mood can put a damper on the rest of your night, which is why your ‘driving home’ playlist can be absolutely crucial. To take me out of the work mindset, I like to refresh myself with music that takes me to my happy place. “And where is that?” you might ask.

An Unorthodox Easter
My mother calls me a cashew, like the nut. Since my father is catholic and my mother is Jewish, I seem to be stuck in between the two religions. If you combine the words catholic and Jewish, we can pretend it would make a word close to cashew, right? Although neither my brother nor I were raised religiously, we do still celebrate the holidays. (I would have to argue that this is more for our grandparents sake then ours, but that is just the angsty teen in me coming out.)

Five Quotes From Books That Changed My Life
A wise, slightly manipulative, and possibly Slytherin, Albus Dumbledore once said,” Words are our most inexhaustible source of magic.” As a bookworm, this has been proven to me time and time again. Often, authors have managed to give me chills, goosebumps, wet eyes or a sense of enlightenment, with just a few words on a page. It’s why I like to read. The right book can change your life.

Debt: You might not want it but you sure do need it.
From a young age, we are told to avoid debt at all costs. Credit cards are taught to be the equivalent to the devils currency. Most of my friends avoided getting a credit card for years because they were under the impression that it was synonyms with debit. I am about to turn twenty-two, and the biggest lesson I have learned in my short stay in the ‘adult world’ is that debt, if done correctly, is a very good thing.

Vocal: The Rookies Guide to Writing Top Story - March 2021
I am officially a month into my Vocal membership, and with 25 stories posted, I have no intentions of leaving the platform anytime soon. I have written more in the last month, than I had my entire high school career, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. As a fan of instant gratification, Vocal’s ‘one cent per two views system’ keeps me motivated much in the same way running while looking at donuts would. After being on the platform for a month, I have learned a fair amount about the company and would like to share it with you now.

Fashion Nova: An Honest Review
Yes, I caved, but it isn’t my fault! They. Wore. Me. Down. I have never seen a company with a more consistent marketing team. Everywhere I look there is an advertisement! My email. Text messages. Instagram. Tiktok. YouTube. Celebrity endorsements. Pop-up ads. They are relentless!
