The Last of Us
Narratively The Last of Us is one of the best stories that the media has ever seen. This seems to be general consensus among both tv and game fans. All media is built to some extent off of tropes. Certain plot and story points that are common to specific genres that a writer can build their story around. The Last of Us uses some of these tropes very well, and even better the show improves upon tropes we’ve seen for years.

The Last of Us
Before I embark on the season finale of The Last of Us I want to talk about how I feel about the season so far. From the start I was a little queasy because I really hate gross things, and zombie stories are really not my thing. However the show did such an incredible job of making the story so character focused that you kind of forget that it is a zombie story. The first few episodes still had quite a few gross scenes that caused me to turn away. That said the story had me from the start. The dynamic between Joel and Ellie, Tessa’s whole existence (I am still bitter), Bill and Frank…all of the side stories and world building were so well done that I truly am invested in every second of it. The show really maintained its tone throughout, which seems to be a rare find these days. A lot of shows now seem to end in an extremely different tone then they started in, and it's very jarring. But The Last of Us has done an incredible job of keeping the tone it started with. Now the season finale will do a lot, first of all it can completely make or break a show. As with final seasons, if finales are bad they really taint the entire viewing experience. If they’re good then we get the pleasure of adding the project to the perfect storytelling hall of fame. It's also going to give us a little insight into what might be coming next season. So here we go, all of my thoughts on The Last of Us season finale.

The Last of Us
So we have established that this show wrecks me emotionally and now Joel is dying and we are apparently doing a flashback episode. Look, I love the background on Ellie. It's some great character growth and I like seeing it. I think it's a great way to get us ready for a death that's going to be hard for her…because as a storyteller that's what I would do. I hate that that's what I do but here we are.

SuperWHOLock
The WHO part of SuperWhoLock is of course the longest running of the three, even if we really only count the first or second half of it. This is a show that transcends fandom as it is one of the most popular shows of all time. Doctor Who started in 1963 ran for 26 seasons and then was rebooted in 2005. The show is still running, in fact BBC just casted it's next Doctor and his companion. There is an extensive Doctor Who universe with lots of spin-offs including The Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood and tons of books, comics, audio adventures and fan shows. Doctor Who is undoubtedly considered a cultural phenomenon so it's really no wonder that it got sucked into the fanbases that also frequented shows like Supernatural and Sherlock.

SUPERwholock
SuperWhoLock…a horrifying Tumblr memory originated in 2011. We were possibly the most annoying online community in history and this series was born and bred out of gen Z’ers trying to claim it's creation. The oldest of the Gen Z’ers was 14 when the fandom originated so no you created nothing, this online horror belongs to Millenials. Also if you had really created it you wouldn’t want to claim it, it was a terrible time of hijacking posts that had nothing to do with us and the wildest of fan fictions. Its existence was a flash in a pan and it came crashing down as quickly as it rose to dominance. With the long hiatuses between seasons of Sherlock and Doctor Who and the decline in quality of Sherlock and Supernatural, paired with the fact that the main fanbase simply grew up the SuperWhoLock fandom ran out of steam. Though jokes of a resurgence emerged with the rumors of Sherlock season 5 and David Tennent returning as the Doctor for another anniversary special. It is a fandom that never needs to see the light of day again, and for most of us it is simply an embarrassing memory. But we are going to explore why these shows had such a chokehold on the internet, why they seemed to pair together so well and why we all simply stopped caring. So we are starting with Supernatural…the basis of Superwholock, the emotional demon fighting show that ran for way too long. I love the show, I find deep emotional connection to it and it quite literally saved my life. I've been to a convention and met the cast members, I’ve spent money on merch and I had a dean's necklace that I wore until it fell apart but the show went on for far too long. I stand by seasons 1-4 without hesitation, 5-7 were still good and I really won’t take criticisms on those either, 8-10 were questionable but at that point the fandom fell victim to the sunken cost fallacy and it was too late to stop watching 11-15 simply showed our dedication to the boys as there was next to nothing redeemable in those plot lines.

Recapping the MCU
Phase two had a lot more important information than Phase one did so hopefully those broad strokes were enough. I know this is a longer video but the MCU really exploded in phase 3. We added a lot of new characters and furthered a lot of team storylines so let's dive right in.

Recapping the MCU
One of the biggest obstacles the MCU faces right now is gaining and retaining audience members. The universe is so vast and interconnected that unless you’ve seen every single project it feels like you're missing something. And the unfortunate reality is that you probably are. But if you don’t care about the details, inside jokes, comic book references and every thread of interrelation then you really just need the broad strokes so here we go. Whether you are a tired, burnt out fan or a new audience member I’m hoping these short guides will help you catch up on all of the important information so you can enjoy the current state of the MCU.

Kinds of Storytelling
So we are starting a new series based on identifying whether projects are character driven or plot driven and what that means. So let's start with character driven stories. Now I have not been shy about my opinion on which kind of storytelling is better, it's character driven stories. They feel more natural and organic and the story never has to be forced.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
So this is one of my favorite shows. And the funniest thing about that is another one of my favorite shows is BoJack Horseman, and really these shows are very similar. They both are character driven stories and they maintain that through their entire run, as well as both centering around mental health. Which is really why they both hit rather close to home but that's why they’re good shows.

The Last of Us
So we took a longish hiatus from The Last of Us because I really need to be in the mood for this show. That said they’ve chilled out on the gross stuff and really laid into the emotion crap. And as such keeps having episodes that leave me yelling at my tv. This show refuses to stop beating my heart into a sludgy substance. It is so heartbreaking, the Walking Dead could never. I of course got attached to Henry and Sam rather quickly, more than that I got attached to Ellie and Sam. Their friendship was established fast and really it was just nice to see Ellie interact with someone closer to her own age.
