House of the Dragon v Rings of Power
With House of the Dragon and Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power being released and concluded around the same time fans can’t help but compare the two, at least a little. Though the two share the same overarching genre, their subgenres are different. House of the Dragon is medieval fantasy whereas Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is high fantasy. Now to be clear House of the Dragon, and Game of Thrones simply would not exist without Lord of the Rings and Tolkien. Let's not pretend that George R.R. Martin came up with original thoughts, he simply rearranged the furniture Tolkien built.

Comic Book Rewind
Welcome back to comic book rewind, where I watch older comic book movies and see how they hold up. Now I’ve got to round out the original X-Men trilogy so here we go with The Last Stand. This used to be my favorite X-Men movie as a kid, let's see how adult Alex handles this.

Parental Relationships in House of the Dragon
One of the most intriguing aspects of both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are the familial relationships. So I thought I would analyze and give commentary on each of those relationships. Now it is important to note that this is strictly based off of the HBO adaptation and has absolutely nothing to do with the book whatsoever.

Alicent and Rhaenyra's Friendship
House of the Dragon has kept audiences captivated for weeks, and though it deviates from the books fans seem to be enjoying the story. However one of the major changes made from the books was deliberate and opened up the story to more flaws than necessary. In the show they made the choice to age Alicent down so that she was the same age as Rhaenyra. They also attempted to establish that these two girls were best friends, as Alicent’s dad was hand to the king the transition seemed natural. But then the writers seemed to forget that they had established these two young women as having a close relationship. In fact they didn’t seem to put any thought into how female friendships work at all.

House of the Dragon
The penultimate episode of House of the Dragon dropped tonight and of course I have many thoughts. This episode was entitled the Green Council which led to a disappointing lack of Rhaenyra and Dameon. And as I am firmly on team Black this episode caused many reactions.

Media That Feels Like Fall
Harry Potter - Books and Movies This one is pretty self explanatory, they start school in the fall. All of the feats and common rooms are cuddly and warm. And both the books and movies provide a sense of comfort and warmth. They are the perfect marathon for cuddling up with apple cider, while listening to the rain outside. While I strongly recommend a full marathon as that is really the only way to truly experience the full awesomeness of the series, if you are short on time I highly recommend The Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire and both parts of The Deathly Hallows. I will be having a full marathon as well as re-reading the series for the uptenth time, happy spell casting!

Triangle of Sadness
This weekend brought on only one new film due to a very important dance competition being just around the corner, and that movie was Triangle of Sadness. Now we once again went into a film knowing nearly nothing, I had only heard that it was a comedy and that Woody Harelson was in it and quite frankly that's all I needed to hear so we booked our seats and settled in.

The Boys - Commentary and Analysis
The season opens with some really weird gratuitous nudity, sex and violence. The show is getting bolder as it keeps getting renewed, each season gets a little more gore and sex oriented which I hear is super close to the comics.

The Boys - Commentary and Analysis
After too long a wait, I finally watched season 2 of the Boys and I have so many thoughts, all of which are framed around the women of the show because I genuinely do not care about any of these men (except of course for Frenchie). So here we go;

House of the Dragon
The first season of House of the Dragon starts to come to a close and the fanbase has firmly planted themselves in team black or team green. Now how anyone could be team green is beyond me and I genuinely think that if you are on Alicent’s side in all this you need psychological help. But here we are ready to watch Rhaenyra and Deamon take their rightful places….here we go.
