Awesome Saturn Exclusives: Platformers
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where I find the positives in maligned pop culture. This is the second of my lists looking back at the Sega Saturn. When looking at why the Saturn failed like it did, many explanations were brought up. There was the botched early launch that alienated retail channels. There was the fact that the Saturn sold for $100 more than the Playstation and Nintendo 64, a handicap that didn't get reduced until the system was just about dead. There was then-CEO Bernie Stolar's comment that the Saturn wasn't the future of Sega which killed consumer interest after only two years on the market.

Silver Linings Playlist: Lionel Richie
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where I find the positives in maligned pop culture. Success can be very fickle for musical acts, and it can also make absolutely no sense. How can any musician be both successful and despised at the same time? It seems very hypocritical to me, but that's the reality for plenty of people. So I decided to take a look at some of the artists that fit that description, and, when I thought about who fit it the most, one name came to mind immediately: Lionel Richie.

'Lifeforce': Tobe Hooper's Misunderstood Masterwork
Hello, and welcome to Second Chances, the column where I give another look at a largely maligned or forgotten piece of pop culture. Whether movie, song, game, or whatever, everything that shows up here deserves a second chance.

Awesome Saturn Exclusives: RPGs
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings , where I find the positives in maligned pop culture. I didn't get a chance to play the Sega Saturn growing up. By the time I was old enough to buy my own games, the Saturn was already being phased out. It's botched early launch, high price point that didn't lower until it was just about dead, and Bernie Stolar's poor handling of Sega killed it in only two years in America. I didn't get my first real exposure to the Saturn until I hooked up with my current squeeze (we've been together now for 11 years, thank you very much).

One-Hitters Who Deserve a Second Listen
Hello, and welcome to another installment of Silver Linings , where I look at maligned stuff and find the positives. I watch a lot of web shows. One of my favorites is a pop music critic named Todd Nathanson, the guy you can (or rather can't) see in the pic above, who goes by the moniker of "Todd in the Shadows." Along with his pop song reviews and countdowns, he produces a side-series called One-Hit Wonderland where he looks at one-hit wonders, listens to the rest of their output, and determines if they deserved to be bigger than just one-hit wonders. To date, he's featured 61 artists. Some deserved more playtime, and some didn't even deserve their one hit.
