How To Write Engaging Stories

I have just begun on my journey here in writing but I would like to share with everyone the best writing styles anyone could use to write engaging pieces of your very own stories! First of all, in order to write, one obvious requirement is that you must have a proper command of the language, which is English.

Then secondly, the way you write must be sensually inspiring. Inspiring others to get a bit more of the useful stuffs you say into their lives, teaching, dispensing wisdom and knowledge that would otherwise not thought of usually, even in their most contemplating moments of their lives. If you are writing an authoritative piece, make sure have your facts checked properly before publishing.

Sometimes, you could be funny and witty with some added nonsensical shouting that ends with exclamation marks! This way they will feel happy reading through your fun piece of a story!

In other times, when you're not trying to be as funny, you could be very much act as a consultant instead. Consult people using your stories on all kinds of matters under the sun. This one here requires much wisdom and intelligence.

Another way of writing engaging stories, is like this piece of story, which is in effect treating you as a friend, telling you tips and advices you normally will never get if I am not your friend!

The style of writing can be arranged in two ways:

The - (what who when how) method

E.g. The dog (what) that Betty (who) just adopted (when) through a pet agency (how) is very cute and lively!

The - (who what how when) method

E.g. Betty's (who) cute new dog (what), which is adopted (how) recently (when) is very fun to play with!

In order for your writing to be engaging, you must write in such a way that questions are continuing being asked by the reader. For example, you would have asked what else after reading the previous sentence. You may keep asking questions about the topic based on the previous sentence and I would go on and on explaining them to you. This is very interesting to any person who have a curious mind and it will make them lock their eyeballs on your writing word after word!

Furthermore, you can be witty and understanding of your audience. Being witty requires a lot of research from other sources if you cannot say anything informative, knowledgeable, or through your experience. About understanding your audience, if you understand what your audience are like, for example, their age, gender, or locality, you can better cater to their preference when you are writing. Niche topic stories or articles are formed this way, that is, by understanding the demographics of the audience you are working with.

About finding the right topic ideas, it is even easier than writing the story itself. Very simple, what I used most of the time, is to think of a subject or a question about just anything I want to write about. Just use the so called brainstorming technique to list down a bunch of ideas to work with. Otherwise, just browse around the internet, Vocal, Medium, or Substack to find what other writers have been writing about, and then go on and write your own versions of that topic but change the title to your own. It's not plagiarism per say, just branching off other people's story ideas and craft your own!

That's it. A little guidelines for newbies to train on writing engaging stories. Have fun!
