Apple unveiled its brand new iPhone model on Wednesday, the iPhone SE and since then it is trending everywhere from Youtube to Twitter. But what's all the buzz about? Well, it's a new iPhone so it's obvious people will talk about it but the catch here is the price. The new iPhone SE is the cheapest iPhone model that you can buy starting from 17th April 2020, starting from the US $399 for the 64GB version. The real question is, are the people going to buy new smartphones in the coming months given the current economic situation due to Corona Virus? Some experts say that that's the reason Apple has launched it's cheaper model keeping in mind the present situation but other's argue that it may not work well in their favor as all the Apple retail stores are closed outside China for an indefinite period and you cannot depend on online sales completely to make a profit. What will happen we will see in a couple of months.

So let's talk about what's new in this iPhone, the phone comes in three different colors (White, Black, and Product Red) and with three different storage options (64GB for $399, 128GB for $449 and 256GB for $549). And if you purchase the Product Red version, the proceeds will go to the Global Fund to combat COVID-19. The new iPhone SE is compact (4.7" Retina HD display) as compared to the previous iPhone 11(5.8" or 6.5" Super Retina XDR display) and iPhone X (6.1" Liquid Retina HD display) models.

Now if we compare the new SE (2nd generation) model with the older version, there are a lot of upgrades such as:

• 4.7” Retina HD display

• Up to 2.4 times faster CPU than A9

• Up to 4 times faster GPU than A9

• Up to 6.5 times faster cellular speeds

• Up to 2.7 times faster Wi-Fi speeds

• Splash, slosh, splatter, and spill-resistant

• Two different sim/phone numbers option

• Up to 2.5 hours longer battery life

• 7MP camera with Portrait Mode and 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps

• Portrait Lighting with six effects (Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, High-Key Mono)

So, it's basically like you're getting features of iPhone 11 in a revamped body and looks of iPhone 8. For its price range, I would say it's not a bad option it may be one of the phones that people will consider buying just to spend within a budget on a new phone during this pandemic. Apple very well understands the current economic situation and that is the reason they launched a phone in a lower price range.

There are potentially two market segments that would be very much interested in this new generation special edition (SE) iPhone, first are the budget-conscious which I would say is pretty much everyone these days given the pandemic situation and second, the fans of the smaller screen size compact smartphones. I love a small screen smartphone because I think it's so much easier to carry and operate. With all the brands moving towards bigger screen models with every new model they launch, this move by Apple can create an interest in the niche market. The only drawback I see is the lack of 5G, which will be a huge thing for the upcoming smartphone models around the world.

Overall I would say that a lot of people are excited and the new model is creating a buzz in the entire world for sure. Given the budget pricing and amazing features, it is likely to be a model for the masses. But will the people actually buy the phone or it's just a buzz and will fizzle out soon? Well, for that we have to wait and see. What do you think about the new SE, let me know in the comments?
