Be Savvy to Save on Tech

How You Can Get Tech on a Budget

Getting the latest tech can be fun and useful. However, having the latest technological tools and equipment famously hasn’t been a cheap pursuit. So what can you do to shop a bit savvier so that you can get value for money? And what sensible choices can you make to make your tech go further? Let’s see shall we?

Find Discounts

Getting good codes is the easiest and best way to save money, as you don’t have to change your ways in order to make savings. Discount Promo Codes is a site that has a huge range of deals from a load of recognisable high-street and online brands. Argos, Currys-PC World and AO.com are on there to name a few, and they do more than just tech retailers. Anything you can think of, the site will probably have a code for that. They’re simple and easy to use, and are a hassle-free way of making your money go further so that either you’ll have more money left over, or you can have more tech for the same spend as you used to.

Be Smart (Phone)

There is a lot a smartphone can do. When you think of an iPhone for example, you might just think about the instant messaging or the playing of music or the reading and sending of emails. But a standard smartphone has a lot of cool little extras hidden away that you probably don’t think about in your day-to-day needs, but could become handy at some point in your life.

One thing you’ve probably used is the alarm clock feature, and it has all but replaced the alarm clock by the side of the bed now. On that clock app, you can also find out times from around the world, but even more usefully, it can be used to set timers as well as acting as a stopwatch.

If you’re exploring type, then the compass app will come in handy—as well as pointing you towards north, it also tells you your latitude and longitude, providing you have location services turned on. If you’re more of a building type however, then the measuring app might come in handy. If you haven’t used it before, it uses the camera to pinpoint the start of whatever you want to measure and track your camera to the specified ending point.

And this is all barely scratching the surface of what you can do with a smartphone. Make the most of your phone so that you can be saving money instead of having to spend it on all these extra things, as they’re all in your phone instead.

Downsize You Tech

Biggest doesn’t always mean best, and in fact historically, it’s always been the opposite in the tech world. Everything’s getting smaller (apart from smartphones it seems, but they’re still smaller than the TVs and laptops they’ve replaced) and everything’s getting easier to use. The current trend is for tech to do multiple things, and there are certain unusual examples that do work, just like this 3-in-1 smart speaker, fire alarm and carbon monoxide alarm. Downsizing your tech means that if you don’t have a lot of room, you can still have a lot of tech in your life. It’s also easier for your bank balance too. Why buy three separate items when one will do all the jobs of all three? Take the PlayStation 4 for example. Not only does it play games, but it can function as a DVD player, BluRay player and take on some of the responsibilities of a Smart TV too.

Bluetooth speakers are a good way of downsizing from the traditional home sound system. Gone are the days where you need a CD/cassette player hooked up to two breezeblock speakers, simply connect a handheld speaker to your laptop or speaker through bluetooth and you’re away. The sound quality is also good too, so you’re not sacrificing size for quality. And what’s more, as well as playing music through it, you can save on the cost of a radio by hooking your phone up and cracking open your favourite radio station’s app.

And that’s just the start of it. There are so many new and ingenious things arriving every day, all designed to make your life easier and much more enjoyable. It seems impossible to get everything you want on your paypacket, so hopefully you’ve learnt a couple of things that will make your money go further.
