Shelter Rescues
Meandering, panting, with eyes aglow,
Each happier each day it often shows.
It’s the four-footed beasts upon my floor,
Making my house a home, that I adore.
From room to room little patter of paws,
Knowing no limits understanding no laws.
Giving of themselves much more freely than most,
More passionate and loving towards their host.
Brown and white and black their clothing is,
Dressed in long or short hair often it tis.
Their different languages I can’t understand,
But at meal times they speak as they can.
From morning to late night, they comfort it’s true,
Seemingly knowing what they need to do.
So they cuddle under our arms meaning no harm,
Looking at us, they wait using all of their charm.
So I winch them up and hold tight,
Letting them know that everything’s alright.
It’s those with no voices I cherish dearly,
For they’re loyal and love unconditionally.
Say what you will about family’s furry friends,
But humans are unfaithful not stay to the end.
My pets, shelter recuses they may very well be,
But their hearts and souls are now forever free.
