Cruises down the long black straight
After a busy morning at church…
Followed by a loud, family lunch…
Ending late.

Bickering breaks out amongst tired, grumpy siblings
Sardines packed too tightly onto the rear seat…
The weekly scenario stuck on repeat.

We round the next corner…
Oh… welcome distraction!
The spinning sign…
Ice Cream… Shaylee Strawberries… Ice Cream… Shaylee Strawberries…
Quick! Time for action!
🍓
Grab an ice cream as we pass!
Hurry!
What flavour do you want?
🍓
Tiny nose pressed against glass…
I want chocolate… no, vanilla…
No, wait… I want strawberry! 🍓
🍓
The rest of us play along
Unwilling to sabotage such fragile peace…
A welcome reprieve from her whining song!
Next moment… we’re past… far down the road…
Wending between rolling green hills…
The Seven Sisters.
🍓
Choosing and snagging imaginary ice creams
Rescued us on those interminable, crotchety trips home
After Mum’s feasts on disposable plates… replete
We never did stop and sample those strawberry treats…
Forever, they lived on in our dreams.

Author’s Note: Since moving thousands of kilometres away, a decade ago… on occasional visits ‘back home’, we at last enjoyed sampling the farm fresh strawberry ice cream.

Peaceful Purpose
I have noticed that in the professional sphere, as far as I have noticed, that many people choose to come to work, mainly with the intention of collecting a paycheck, which I completely understand, unfortunately, we all need money to survive in this world. I also feel very strongly about the fact that if you are going to work in a profession, you should certainly treat that profession, whatever it may be, with the dignity that its purpose entails, whether you are working in the medical field, or working at a fast food restaurant, you should do you best to do the best job you can, because when it comes right down to it, we are all humans, going through the trials, and challenges that this life can bring us, by working together.
