Now You See Me, Now You Don't
But, I'm Still Here
There is so much more of me that remains
Than the me that remains on display
Though what's left of me to be displayed
Is easier seen, than what's dissolved in the clay
*
Deep down beneath the earth's surface
Lies the rest of the story of me
When I died, my sediment found purpose
Settling deep in the depths of the sea
*
My frame dissolved and mixed with the environment
Minerals crystallized, forming a cast
Fossilization much like a fingerprint
Supporting earth in new ways, that will last
*
So, although you can't see what I'm doing
I'm still a mighty big part of your world
My sediments mix with the soil, improving
So, in reality, we're all being preserved

Well done! Needs to be in science books!
wow, good touch with the preservation. Yes, we are all somehow part of the same cycle and linked to eachother through decades and ages of living and dying.
This poem would make a good introduction to a elementary or middle school science project on dinosaurs or basic geology.
Wow I am amazed! really Love to read it and feelin it !
