In My Room

"Strangely Art" Prompt challenge!

*

You crawl over my skin like a goosebump

blanket me with an unending chill

Playing dead in the shadows you lay slumped

while my nightmares and terrors you spill

All over the room like confetti

my fears sweetly release a thrill

That you get when I'm scared and sweaty

imaginations switched to overkill

I've surrounded myself with protection

but you use them in spite of myself

It's some kind of creepy connection

as they stir all about on my shelf

Sometimes they crawl under the covers

snuggle in to encourage my trust

Then you invade my dreams like a lover

I awaken covered in wanderlust

So tonight, kindly stay in the corner

let my restlessness rest at long last

I dread the feel of my heart's murmur

let us alone here at peace to relax
