Painting by Artist Celia Krampien - from the Reiki Cat Lady

For the Vocal Social Society painting prompt challenge, I have written a Halloween Limerick.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Mademoiselle heard the front door bell.

Magic, the cat, listened to her spell.

Children wearing costumes

moved away from door fumes.

Beware of Halloween tricks, do tell.

Author's notes:

My children and grandchildren have always enjoyed dressing up for Halloween. Unfortunately, a Halloween Urban Legend was taken seriously by my dad. While there are many urban legends associated with Halloween, it was the razor blade candy legend story.

As for my age, my guess is six or seven. Clueless as to what I dressed up as. Definitely remember being punished afterward because we went trick or treating on Halloween. Nevertheless, as a child, never went trick or treating again.

Have a fun and safe Halloween.

Thank you for reading! You are appreciated!

I went trick or treating at age 5 and never again. My dad pretty much carried me as I was a sickly kid. I remember though getting chicklets and being so happy. I love limericks, and yours was wonderful

  • We weren't allowed to keep any fruit given to us by someone we didn't know because of the razorblade possibility.

I am always fascinated with how the other side of the world takes Halloween so seriously. We never had the opportunity in Australia to trick or treat…….and still to this day, even though Australia does run with this tradition on a small scale in more recent years, I’ve still never had anyone knock on my door….I wouldn’t have anything to give them haha. Nicely done Babs and I’m sorry you didn’t get to experience the fun side when you were young.

That rumour has been around for as long as trick or treating This is Great

  • Oh no, I'm so sorry that you were not able to go trick or treating again 🥺 May I know what's the razor blade candy legend story? Loved your limerick!

Fun memory Babs. Cutting the cheese in those old costumes took it to another level, LOL. Thanks for the laugh - if we lived closed I'd give you some candy. But we don't so I'll just say Go Rangers! ❤️
