Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

I Couldn't Help it!

Duchess Daisy of Desperado (small black labrador female love of mine)

This is a true story, but Daisy is the one telling it here. She was a comfort puppy to me, coming to me after my mother's death. She got me through some bad times with her wet kisses and smiles. She made me laugh with her antics and I will never stop being grateful for the love she gave to me. It is just now that I'm able to talk about her without, as my grandchildren say, "getting into my feels."

**********************************************************************

"Hi! My name is Daisy. I was born in early June of 2013, making me a Gemini girl. I've got to tell you; they nailed it in their description of my personality...I'm just a very happy girl, always smiling, and I love my Mama, my big brother, Charlie Bear, and my little brother, Duke."

"Well, to be honest, Duke annoys me at times, but that's what little brothers do, right? He is big and clumsy and can never catch me. He tries so hard to catch the ball first, but he can't keep up with me! I'm way too fast and boy, do I have some moves!"

Oh, and my TOYS...how could I forget about them? I LOVE my toys! Mama laughs when I put them all in mouth and fall asleep like that."

"I also want to mention how much I love my treats :) That's why I did so good at training school. Can you believe that they give them away when you listen and do what they ask? (I really love those yummy treats.) And I love the other students, too. I always had fun in school, but I graduated because I'm so smart."

"I've heard that Gemini girls get in trouble when they get bored, like when Mama left me and Charlie Bear out in the back yard a little too long. I showed my brother how to get out of the fence. We didn't mean to be bad or make Mama cry. And to be totally honest, it was all my fault. Charlie Bear tried to talk me out of it, but I just couldn't resist having an adventure. My brother followed because he wanted to make sure I was safe."

"We did have fun, though...until we got arrested and were taken to jail (county pound.) Would you believe they had posters made of us to put on their site? And even though we told them our names, they acted like they couldn't understand us and named us Bonnie & Clyde? The nerve!"

"Thank goodness Mama came and bailed us out. Poor Charlie Bear was so tired and repentant. He jumped into our car as fast as he could. Mama got peeved at me, though. Besides having to pay a fine, she had to practically drag me out to the car because I had made so many new friends by then, I didn't want to go home just yet."

"She forgave me quickly, though. She understands. She's a Gemini girl, too. But I did give her lots of kisses to make up for having so much fun."

Footnote: Daisy would "escape" many more times, in spite of her Mama doing her best to keep her safe. The last time was right after moving to Louisiana from Texas, almost four years ago. It broke her Mama's heart, but she knows that Daisy is having "fun" wherever she is, even if it is in Heaven with Jesus.

I hope Daisy found a new family who loves her as you did. Atleast she is lives in your memories. You must miss her very much. These furballs are such lovable companions.

  • Duchess Daisy of Desperado Is gorgeous inside and out 🥰… if she ever needs dog sitters, she’s welcome to pop in for a visit with us… in Australia 🤣 Loved: ‘she had to practically drag me out to the car because I had made so many new friends by then, I didn't want to go home just yet." ✅ Smart sociable ’puppy’!🤩

We rescued a dog from the shelter ego had been found straying and we loved her for many years. Daisy is probably a very happy girl.

  • Kisses 😘 lovely tribute and happy you can fall back on such amazing memories!!!

  • You mean to say that after that last time, you guys never found Daisy again? 🥺

  • OMG, Shirley, I don't know whether to laugh or cry, this is such a lovely tribute to a furbaby. Sometimes these tributes are too sad, you know, they don't capture the furbaby's real self, but you gave her life and allowed us know her. Thank you for a lovely read!
