Give Unfrosted (2024) a Chance!

Shut your mind off when watching Unfrosted. It's a comedy.

This is the pop tart, how could anything go wrong?

Unfrosted popped out of the toaster and onto Netflix in 2024. Bob Cabana tells the true story of how pop tarts were invented in Michigan in 1963. Business rivals, Kellogg and Post compete to create a breakfast nobody will forget.

I have some very important advice about Unfrosted. This is a comedy. There’s no need to take it seriously. Viewers are being too harsh about this movie when it’s meant to be a funny satire. Unfrosted is a comical time that requires you to shut your mind off and enjoy it for what it is.

Jerry Seinfeld knows the ins and outs of comedy. Since his hit sitcom ended, he has become more exaggerated and over-the-top. His facial expressions and delivery made me laugh! Seinfeld leads the cast to make this film something for audiences to smile and have a good time.

A cast of big-name actors, each with a background in comedy or first-timers starred in Unfrosted. Melissa McCarthy stars as Donna Stanowski. McCarthy has a knack for comedy. Amy Schumer is humorous in her villainous role. I know viewers have mixed opinions on Schumer and her comedy, but give her a chance.

I never expected to see Hugh Grant in this flandarized and comical villain role of Thurl Ravenscroft (AKA Tony the Tiger). A few more names include Jim Gaffigan, Peter Dinklage, Sarah Cooper, Fred Armisen, and several unexpected faces. The comedy choices varied among actors. Some didn’t mesh with Seinfeld’s comedy.

Huge shoutouts go to Bailey Sheetz and Eleanor Sweeney for their impeccable debuts. They were directed well by Seinfeld, implementing impressive comedy for their young age.

I know it would have only turned into a Seinfeld episode, but Unfrosted was missing Julie Louis Dreyfuss, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards's comical talents.

The comedy exists more than the actual story. The premise revolves around the creation of the pop tart. The film contains several filler moments that have nothing to do with pop-tarts. The lively animated ravioli is one example.

I also wasn’t fond of how the film references the January 6 attacks. The event was unsettling enough, and it made me uncomfortable how characters crawled up the building and rioted. That joke is too soon.

Then again, how much can you talk about pop tarts? Unfrosted isn’t about coherent plots or any deep character development. It’s all about having a good laugh. I was going through a stressful day and as soon as I turned this film on, I forgot about them. Sometimes all we need is a good laugh which Unfrosted reminds us to do.

There were several times when I laughed. At times, the jokes fall flat or don’t make the right deliveries, but an effort was made. The most hilarious scene in the entire movie is when Seinfeld has to run through hundreds of stinky cows. We need more of this comedy.

Audiences and critics are missing the point of Jerry Seinfeld’s film. Unfrosted is a lighthearted silly comedy that doesn’t need to be taken seriously or studied for any hidden meanings. I don’t agree with anyone deeming Unfrosted as the worst film of 2024. Those critics didn’t give it a chance. At least give it a chance.

Everyone was having the time of their lives with the making of this film which is evident by the bloopers. Bloopers are my favorite part of any media. Munch on a pop tart and watch Unfrosted on Netflix. I enjoyed it and laughed more than I thought I would.

Seinfeld wasn't about anything either, he is an expert at that. Isn't it odd how people can't just ENJOY a show without expecting it to meet their expectations of.....what? Thanks for the review, I will watch it now. and I used to eat pop tarts when my son was young - I liked the cinnamon and blueberry and we many times didn't toast them!!
