Fiction Shorts word of the day: Laid
Pamela’s getting on in years, what with her 95th birthday a week away.
Ninety five years is not a bad innings but she’s tired and ready to leave this world to face her next adventure. She holds on for one special reason; her companion of twenty years, Joey, her cocker spaniel.
What’ll happen to Joey when she’s no longer around? It’s a worry that plays on her mind but if only she knew.
On the eve of her birthday Pamela climbs into bed, Joey jumped up and laid beside her and they both fell into their everlasting sleep; together forever.
This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'laid'.

Well Organised
Her day’s finally arrived and she couldn’t be happier. Today she’ll marry the love of her life, come hell or high water. And yes, that’s a possibility because here she is standing in front of her window, watching the black clouds descend upon her world. The Universe is moving those black clouds into position to threaten to wash her day away.

Dance Card
You arrive. You arrive jostling solemnity and silence, balancing reticence and resolve, looking lovely and lonely. I listen to your thoughts. Careful now, you think, lest eternity's tenants wake and all Hell breaks loose. I grin. You do still think of me from time to time.

Awww, they died together and can be together in the afterlife. Also, I love the irony because just a few stories ago, Pamela was supposed to get baptised and now she's dead 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
