Roselea

A Kingdome of Marden Story

In the fabled Kingdom of Marden, a Queen named Roselea the Great reigned. Her rule, a tapestry woven with excellence and kindness, was akin to a mother hen tending to her chicks. The people of Marden, in unison, hailed her as the greatest ruler in their history and, perhaps, in all of history.

How she came to be Queen is mysterious, though many tales abound. Some are very farfetched to test the boundaries of the imagination, while others are rather drab, mundane tales lacking an inkling of drama. Each has nothing in common except that once they had an evil king who married a beautiful lass of the people. His young bride took over the Kingdom the following year, erasing his existence from history.

Some say the psychotic King just became sick, withered away, and died, his life force slowly ebbing away. Others say his bride, a woman of strength and determination, stepped forth and took over the running of the Kingdom while he was ailing. They say she ran the kingdom so well that the people automatically crowned her the Queen, a testament to her leadership and trust in her.

Others claim that Roselea was a quiet lass who never put herself in the public eye and was crowned by mistake upon her husband’s death, the mean King's. That moment the crown touched her brow, her entire demeanor seemed to shift and change into the Queen they now had—a mighty queen who put the needs of her people above all else, offering her protection and wisdom as a Mother to her children.

Most claim that the cruel and Malevolent King was sickened within a month of forcing his young, innocent bride into marrying him. They swear that something snapped inside her on the wedding night, and she used everything in her reach to sicken and weaken the self-centered King. He was such an evil King that everyone overlooked her deed and crowned her Queen anyway.

Either way, she became Queen; only truly Roselea knows the details in full. She spent the rest of her long life making up for what she did to control one of the most powerful Kingdoms in history. To absolve herself of any guilt she may or may not have had in her heart. She was such a good Queen that no one wanted to charge her with regicide since the King had been cruel and unwanted.

I mean, the king was evil and she's such a good queen. So I don't think it's wrong even if she killed him. Loved your story!
