It was a calm night in the forest of Fardassa, the massive trees swayed gently in the nightly breeze, allowing bits of moonlight to shine through onto the forest floor below. A few owl calls could be heard echoing throughout the forest.

Mixed in with the owl’s calls was one call that any person would recognize. The cry of a toddler, a girl. Her cries sounded throughout the forest hoping her father would hear her and scoop her up in his arms.

Suddenly, a gust of wind bent the top of the trees, giving an opening to a massive white dragon descending down to the forest. Landing with a mighty thud, the Dragon looked down at the small human child, its snakelike head adored horns on top, and it led down to its massive, scarred body which had two massive wings, and ended with a club like tail. Its claws had a blue color to them as it reached out towards the child with one of them and placed it under the girl's chin to get a better look at her with its, bright, golden eyes.

The human girl had short red hair which had a nice braid going down the middle of her back. Tears streamed down her cute cheeks and onto her little outfit, a striped shirt and plaid coveralls to which the Dragon shook its head at the fashion choice of this child. The child looked back up at the dragon and her blue eyes seem to pierce the very heart of this beast.

The Dragon looked around for any sign of any other humans and upon seeing none, flew up back up into the sky. To its right, a small town with torchlight. But to its left, black smoke with blue fire seemed to jump out of the forest, to which the Dragon growled fiercely. It flew back down to the forest floor and looked back down at the child. Seeing her face again, the Dragon steeled its resolve and scooped up the child in one of its paws and headed towards the town. The Dragon knew that the blue smoke contained its sibling, a blue dragon, who hated humans. But the White Dragon believed in humankind and sought to protect them from the Blue Dragon's wrath. The White Dragon kept to the ground, hoping that the lack of speed would be compensated by being hidden in the trees.

It's not long, however, before the blue fire seemed to catch up to the White Dragon, and a burst of the fire struck the White Dragon in its left shoulder sending it crashing to the ground, the little girl bouncing out of its grasp. The White Dragon spun quickly, sending a burst of white fire back towards the Blue Dragon, sending its next blast high into the sky. The White Dragon looked around for the child and seeing her unharmed but completely scared, it grabbed her again and this time leaped high into the sky and started to fly towards the town.

The sound of crashing trees could be heard from behind the White Dragon as the Blue Dragon also jumped into the sky and followed, sending another fire blast towards the fleeing Dragon and child. The blast struck the Dragon again, leaving a scorch mark on its white scales and sent it back down to the forest floor. Crashing into the trees but landing on its back, the White Dragon kept the child safe by holding the child close to its chest. The White Dragon only had a spare moment to check on her before the Blue Dragon crashed through the trees, hoping to pin them into the dirt. The White Dragon rolled out of the way, causing the Blue Dragon to land roughly on the ground, giving the White Dragon time to put the child down before squaring off against its foe.

The Blue Dragon looked at its sibling. Although they were about the same height, the Blue Dragon was significantly heavier than its sibling, and using its weight, it swung a massive paw at the White Dragon, catching it on the side of its head. The White Dragon roared in pain as blood trickled down its scales. It responded however with a massive tail swing at the head of the Blue Dragon. It struck the Blue Dragon sending it crashing into the earth. The White Dragon seized the advantage and leaped onto the Blue Dragon attempting to pin it and to bite down on the neck. The Blue Dragon managed to throw off the White Dragon off it and getting to its feet.

A small cry caused the Blue Dragon to focus its attention on it and upon seeing the child, reared its head back to launch a fire blast towards the child. A white blast of fire hit the Blue Dragon in the neck, sending the blast wide of the child. The Blue Dragon turned towards the White Dragon but not before the White Dragon leaped at it, sinking its teeth deep into the neck of the Blue Dragon. In desperation the Blue Dragon clawed furiously in attempt to get the White Dragon off. But the White Dragon hung on desperately as the White Dragon began to twist his body to attempt to break the neck of the Blue Dragon. It attempted to push and pull the White Dragon off, but with a violent twist, snapped the neck of the Blue Dragon.

Exhausted, the White Dragon crumbled to the ground. It laid there for a moment before a small hand touched the Dragon on the nose. As it looked at the Child, she had her other hand around the nose of the Dragon, giving it an awkward hug. Sliding its nose under the girl, the Dragon stood up with the girl on her nose and walked down further into the forest, towards the town.

The morning sun's rays shone on the town through the trees, as a little girl walked through the edge of the forest. It didn't take long for people to see the young girl walking into town, and the girl's own father scooped her up into his arms once again.

" And to this day, on certain nights, you can see the White Dragon fly over the trees."

" Aw, Grandma." said a young boy. " Grandpa says that dragons died years ago. "

"Ah." said Grandma. " Let's take a look now, shall we?"

Taking her grandson by the hand, they walked over to a window that overlooked the forest. The moon shone brightly on the trees, that was until a dragon's shadow appeared on the treetops, and if you were able to look at the moon at that moment, you would have seen a White Dragon, flying over the trees heading deeper into the forest, always making sure that the child it had defended that dangerous night was safe and sound.
