Out with the Old
A Poem on letting go of attachments
Have you persisted at tasks or relationships, though the labours hardly bore fruit? We hang on to things that no longer serve any purpose because we have an attachment to them.
So, we try to let go of the attachments that no longer hold any use. But what are the signs that we should disconnect from what we hold on to too tightly? You'd have persistent negative feelings. There would be a lack of reciprocity - you wouldn't gain anything from them. You'd find it hard to move forward, and grow. The attachment may even prompt unhealthy habits.
If there is an attachment affecting you in this way, why not show it the door? Enjoy these rhyming couplets.
Out with the old, to bring in the new,
Throw the old jeans that make us blue
Out with the old, frayed top hat
Black, dirt-ridden, does not give back
Out with the pack of infertile soil
Plants won't grow, though you toil
Out with the cheesecake you overeat
And the chocolate that's too sweet
Out with the old, in with the new
The old should go, to oneself be true.

Yea, but not the reel-to-reel tape deck. Just everything else.
